fuck that's nice mate.. The wood grain against the black REALLY Nice!

as to Guitar Teacher etc online... He does both Electric and Acoustic... a guy called JustinGuitar... Very Good Lessons.

You don't have to join & pay... as he does Loads of Free stuff on You Tube. 8)
I was at the guitar institute about 20 years ago in Acton and he was one of our teachers. Nice guy.

I remember he was doing one lesson on jazz chord substitution and how this particular different 9th chord a 4th up can be slotted in instead of this chord in your usual progression and why it works theoretically etc etc. It sounded so shit. So I put my hand up and asked him "Yeah, but why would you do that when it sounds so shit?" and he just laughed and was like, yeah mate, can't disagree. Haha

Theory has its place but a lot of proponents of theory are music snobs.

I remember jamming with a bass player years ago who was a mate of a mate and every fucking riff or melody I played he'd play these shit diminished bass lines, and he kept asking me to try adding 11th or 13th notes to my two note distorted heavy metal chords. Yeah great it is theoretically correct but it sounds shit. Fucking twat.

I mean I was probably a bit young back then and didn't see the benefit of just doing something different. My ears were expecting something but a different chord has been substituted and my ears weren't expecting that so I probably just recolied.

I now totally see the benefit of doing things out of the box, just so shit doesn't sound the same as it always has done. Whenever I hear bands that are good, but haven't done anything different to band X from 30 years ago I just kinda go "Meh, yeah it sounds good." And that's about it. You could have a band that sounds great and sounds just like Pantera......But then I can just go and put Pantera on and listen to them! :D

Yeah I'd read it at the time and he's made a great recovery. Thank fuck it was a treatable clot rather than the Grand Mal seizure with stroke. My dad suffered that when he was 58 and just about survived it but was left paralysed on his left side.

He had a reasonably decent quality of life after though with my mom and my brothers and our wives and kids and me all looking after him when needed, but then 5 years later his fuckwad of a GP misdiagnosed cancer and by the time the hospital discovered it, it was too late. He died about 4 days after being finally fully diagnosed.

At least he had those 5 years retirement with his family and especially his grandkids.

Interesting footnote, his GP died of cancer about three or four years later. Useless cùnt. :censored:

I am sorry to hear about that mate. Just as in all walks of life there are Good GP's and there are those c.unts who should never practice.

Re-assurring to know Karma played its part on the GP, not that it would have helped your dear Dad.

whats the story with running your guitar through a computer to an AMP.

Im reading on positive grid that theres an interface software and you can do all your configs and setups on an application on your computer. But its not quiet clear then is your computer them the amp or can you line out via cable/blutooth to your amp.

The idea of having the spark amp app on my computer is something id love but i dont want to run my guitar through my computer speakers.

Does that make sense?

I regret to say I suffer from Techno Fear and do not have a Scooby, however I know DB is well up on all this so have no doubt he can answer / advise you.

I bought a Acoustic Soul Mate FX Board last year and a Tascam DP-008EX Digital 16 Track Recorder I am still struggling to get to grips with them..

If you mean just the software and not the amp then yes you can buy a software download app that will do that but your guitar will be coming out through your computer speakers. I think the standalone app is called "BIAS".

But I'd recommend buying the amp which includes the app for free.

To avoid the sound coming through your pc or laptop's speakers you'd need to buy the Positive Grid Spark amp.

I think the best way to look at it is it's like two seperate but related connections. I run a cable from guitar to the positive grid Spark amp. Then when I want to record I run another cable to recording software (or DAW) on my laptop from the Spark amp.

I run the app seperately on an ipad (can be done on any tablet or a phone!) and that is connected to my Spark amp by Bluetooth, so the app is seperate to the system of guitar amp cable laptop etc. But you can change settings on the app on your phone or tablet and they will change on the Spark amp. And you can then save them as presets or patches or "tones" I think they call them on the Spark. And you can download tonnes of free user-made tones from the soundcloud database they have with over 10,000 preset sounds! It's literally Eddie Van Halen's tone or Andy Summers's tone or Jimi Hendrix's tone at the touch of a screen!

So you can play the Spark amp as just a normal amp with physical dials and buttons on it.

Then you can play it as an amp with an app that is on your ipad and connected through Bluetooth.

Or you can plug the Spark amp into a laptop to record in any DAW recording software like Logic or Garageband or Pro Tools etc and use the app on your phone/ipad to change the sounds on the amp.

The Positive Grid website has instructional videos that explain and show how to set it all up.

Honestly, speaking as a guitar player that historically always loved his 100watt Marshall and BOSS pedals, the best amp I've ever owned is the Spark. It's so versatile and fun to experiment with and costs about half the price of a cheap low end Marshall or less.

Sorry, I should also have clarified you can run a special cable from your computer to bypass your computer speakers and go straight to an amp. Cannot for the life of me remember what type of cable does it but any guitar shop or forum would be able to tell you the spec you need.

So is that this gizmo? https://www.positivegrid.com/products/r ... 4437143712

Im only looking at this because my tablet screen is small and my pc screen is big and happens to be right where i practice so i thought why not.

then there was a firmware update which my spark wouldnt do over bluetooth, had to be connected so it got me thinking!

Yep. They are literally just software downloads. But they sound amazing.

The only negative thing I can think of with the Spark amp is that the firmware updates have to be over a hard cable and can't be done over Bluetooth.
