Bendtner; The Leg-end

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Really impressive mate. Some of our fans have been going a bit overboard about the lad which I dont think is fair on him as it piles the pressure on a bit but some of my mates watch the reserve games and theyve been saying he should get his shot. We've got him and Ryan Noble in the reserves, Noble has scored 10 in his last 4 games at that level but O'Neill still obviously felt that McClean was the one who was ready to get his chance.

He came on and immediately got the ball and ran at his man, beat him and whipped in a beautiful cross which nearly led to a goal. We've been crying out for a natural left winger (Sessegnon is right footed and has been out there, Larsson has been there occasionally, last season Malbranque was there, the only left footed lad we've got really is Richardson and he's been needed at left back and has never really impressed on the wing). Strange that we've been crying out for natural width on the left and Bruce, who rated McClean enough to buy him, never gave him his chance.

Like I say, its only 15 minutes, but the Sunderland forum is going a bit mental about him. He was strong, quick, happy to run at his man, showed no fear or nerves for his debut and gave the place a real lift. A great performance and he really has set his bar quite high, just needs to try his best to keep matching that performance but equally our fans need to realise that the lad wont always manage it and needs support. Very positive contribution on his debut though, genuinely contributed to us changing the game around. TBH with football the way it is now with overpaid pampered stars etc, its brilliant to see a young lad come on and make his debut, and seeing him contribute to lifting the crowd and us turning the game around was amazing, too rare nowadays but great to see, really hope the lad gets more chances (he will) and takes them.

To see just how mental people are going about him after his debut, heres a 270 post thread about him and almost all positive http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=653234

Glad to hear he is getting a bit of praise, the only criticism he used to get here was that sometimes he "tries too hard". So if that's his only fault he should be ok.

Fcuk off - we got it damn hard to shift the *word censored* out of the club (even stoke thought he wasnt good enough for them ffs  ) so there is no way that we should allow him back even a minute before his loan deal is due to expire

Best fckin thread on a football forum anywhere. Ever. Describes a perfect arc from hopeful worship and expectation to utter despair/resignation.
Bit like watching your team on a shit day/season.
Thanks and please continue to the post mortem.

  to be fair he is Denmark's best ever striker, the desk sergeant should know who he is. Need to wait until the facts come out- the cars they damaged were parked right next to the mags stadium, it might yet be the case that him and Cattermole were teaming up to fight evil, like an even camper version of Batman and Robin. I reckon its all a set up- they were probably walking along peacefully and then, behind them, hidden from view, was Chamakh- he ran along smashing the cars and then phoned the police reporting the two brave souls who were doing no wrong...

I'm really, really clutching at straws now mind
