That doesn't stack up for me I'm afraid - are you saying that (a) ozil is a better option on the wing than podolski, cazorla, ox and Campbell ? (b) or that the wing position is more important to wenker than the central number 10 position ? Your comments suggests that when everyone is fit ozil would be our first choice no.10 player, but surely if that is the case then you play him in the more important central position UNLESS he is a versatile player who can play well on the wing too and I think that we can all agree that isn't the case here

Hi,
for some reasons you have two Özil Threads
I wrote this in the other one: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37334&start=255 Hi,
strange thing with Özil. A lot of german national squad supporters have been unhappy with his Performance during the WC2014 but he was almost always in the starting squad. In the final he moved from the wing to the center midfield position and I personally think that is the key with Mesut. He is not realy a wing Player, he is not fast enough. He needs good Support on the wing and a Counterpart as a striker, as an offensive midfield Player he is very good so it is a about the squad you build around him I guess.
Cheers,
Thomas
Looking at Mesut yesterday I think that is the key to play him central. Both BVB wing defenders (both German international) had no Problem to take him out of the game. I think you have to Play him in a 4:2:3:1 in the centre offensive middfield Position. For that Price tag you have to design the squad around him. Still a lot of people here don't understand why Madrid was able to sell him for that amount of Money I guess at those days it was a Little bit a last Minute Panic Shopping Tour
Don't get me wrong, just my two Cents
Cheers,

He is a big enough player(42 ml big), to seek audience with Wenger and have a full , serious talk on his play and preferences. If he doesnt do that, there will be no excuse for him because fans will always see him as someone who cant be bothered. He should stop the docile and easy attitude, look Wenger in the face and demand “Play me in my rightful position or I quit and wont take the blame anymore”.
I am tired of how everything goes at Arsenal. They all become deaf and mute once they come here.
Simply because it is not Ozils personality to do that. He did not do that at Schalke, Werder Bremen nor at Real Madrid or the German national Team. He is that kind of Player who goes back into his own nut Shell if things don't work out.
He is being played out of position by Wenker and his Arsenal career is heading the same way as Arshavin. He plays wide for Germany but not really as a winger, and because Germany have superior players than him in the more central role, this isn't the case at Arsenal.
Wenker fuck off now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not fast enough
He was the fourth fastest player at the World Cup, he's just a lazy *word censored*
I hope Wenger goes out on a limb this weekend, does something strange like play Ozil in his natural position, central midfield with an attacking intent, Cazorla left side, and Ramsey on the bench.
Just once I would like to see how it works if Ozil is allowed to tee up Alexis & Welbeck in the way he has in the past for other team mates at other clubs.
I apologise for mentioning these 2 names in a kind of positive way, BUT I bet maureen and rednose could improve Ozil's performances on the pitch by at least 40% - it is 90% down to wenker playing him out of position and not 'avin a word in his shell like'.
Needs to wake up and realise he has to put in 100% if he wants things to work out with us, that means regardless of where he plays.
If he is out wide at times then he can still count his blessings, all 100 grand plus per week of them, and get on with it!
Wenger
Should play him centrally when possible.
It is not a case that playing Ozil wide is "Out of position" because he played there for Real Madrid and Germany.
But he has in my opinion looked better centrally, his main skill of quick passing is best suited to a number 10 role.
With Welbeck in front, and Alexis Sanchez and Walcott fit and either side of him (or as deputies any selection from Campbell, Gnabry and maybe Oxlade-Chamberlain) there is huge potential for visionary passing helping out speedy runners to get in behind defences.
That is something we seem to struggle with when we play a slow build up faux tikki taka style.
Ozil is playing like a twat but after years and years of bitching about financial constraints surely if we're forking out over £40m for a player we should be inking him in in his best position.
