We have a fantastic opportunity. No other big clubs looking, PL being a bigger draw than ever, huge resources and two top class managers who seem to have run out of patience at their respective clubs in Allegri and Simeone.

The club wouldn’t touch Simeone (shame) but Allegri would be perfect. He isn’t going to come for fuck all resources though, managers like that aren’t going to set themselves up for a fall. I’m not sure whether the club has the ambition to go for Allegri or the ability to deliver that sort of coup, but the stumbling block in any event will be convincing him that the club is actually ambitious and committed to winning the biggest trophies.
Can’t they just tell him we are on the shoulders of the European giants and hope he doesn’t catch a glimpse at the league table ?

Allegri or Luis Enrique???? - Perhaps they can persuade Vieira or Arteta to come in on the back-up staff?

Happy to see the Allegri stuff picking up the pace a lot more now.

I truly believe that Allegri will build a proper team at Arsenal and will set the foundations of a solid defence too. The thought of Aubameyang and Lacazette under Allegri is also very mouthwatering.

On a side note, I hope Allegri is able to bring Cheillni with him (he's on a free). I know he's 33 but the bloke's a leader and a winner and is the club captain we've been crying out for. That's actually one thing I'm most excited about with regard to a new manager; having someone who will be willing to bring in a spine/leadership back to the club.

A manager with his fierce winning mentality is mouthwatering period.

He might bring Chesney with him.

If you want to see a show, you can go to the circus; we're in the business of winning games.

Now that is 8) give me ground out 1-0 wins any day of the week :barscarf:
And so unlike that "football is an art" shite..it's not an art when chucking 4-0 leads or getting fartpiped 8-2 6-0 5-1 etc
let's get back to The Arsenal way and build it from the back 8)

It would be encouraging if we were to appoint Allegri, but my head tells me that we won't.
Surely it is a step backwards for him? I see that he is being linked with Chelsea. That makes more sense.
It is reported that we will make an announcement before the WC. When are ST renewals due?
Even Ray Parlour is mentioning the need of 200mil transfer kitty. The PR dept are already instilling that into our conscience.
Sad to say, we have heard guff in the past, and this stinks of the same.
We will probably end up with El Tel, cheese on toast face or Dave Jones.

Only into the minds of the fools who are stupid enough to pay attention

Look, the vast majority of Gooners know that we are miles away from really challenging for the top trophies. All this talk of a need for a £200m kitty is ridiculous cos it is coming from the notion that we can go from 6th place to serious contender overnight  I dont want or need the next manager to do a quick overnight fix - I want the next manager to do a proper rebuild and that will take 2 or 3 seasons, so he should be given the time to do that, and that means bringing in quality players in each of those seasons as opposed to splashing £200m in one transfer window trying to fix everything in 1 go

I think Allegri might sign because he is only on 2 Million a year at Juventus but it would mean we would have to compensate them. I don't know how much that would cost.
Enrique will go to Chelsea and have a war chest to try and buy instant success.
Mourinho will spend spend spend but sell a few as well.
So basically all the top teams will strengthen next season which means we have to be really on it with the little amount of money we have.

we will have a chance of signing him IF we show some ambition and don't dither.

I feel if we don't get him this week we might well lose out to Chelsea - who certainly will not mess about.

Got a horrible feeling we still might end up with Arteta.

I agree with all of that. Three seasons is ample time to rebuild the team in to a serious title threat but there's no excuse not to be above Spurs by the end of his second.
