Exactly LDB.

5 new players is good to see, most of them look quality. Glad because it gives light to the club.

Lets make no mistake though, 4th is probably the height of our ambitions this season which on another note is quite sad.

I think he may just do that as well. I believe Cahill would be available far cheaper also.

The problem in January though is, it's like these last few days. It's very very hard to get top quality players in January.

Anyone THANK FUCK, THE WINDOW IS CLOSED.

Cahill will have only 6 months on his contract. 5-6 million would do it I reckon.

I'm happy. Apart from not getting Cahill I think we did okay. The German will take some time to adapt but Santos and Arteta should be spot on.

I know a lot of the new signings are not what people wanted to see, but I'm excited to see new life being injected into arsenal in the form of experienced players and not just kids. It is a good break from the usual we have come to expect and I geniunely want to see how it fits together, especially with Arteta, Gervinho and Mertesacker... should be good, although we are still far away from being in the title race.

Very happy Cahill didn't go to the swamp. Was worried about that.

Same

Also the fact Meireles left the Scousers has made them alot weaker in my opinion.

This season is a battle for 4th, make no mistake. And our rivals are Liverpool and them alone. And I think they have been slightly weakened in the last few days, whereas we have undoubtedly improved. The media pundits will still make them favourites of course as they love 'em, but I've got a sneaking feeling that we're back in the race.

My biggest hope is that in the next few years we see the UEFA financial regulations start to bite (and lets hope they've got teeth!).....with us reaping the rewards i.e. it may pull Citeh, Utd and Chelsea back down to our level and may push Liverpool down in the direction of the Spuds...... :barscarf: !

A few major issues from the transfer window imo-

1. Making a profit in the transfer window for the umpteenth time in a row is totally totally unacceptable for a team in need of major quality injection

2. Yet again we have more players gone out then we have coming in and when you start the summer with a small squad then making it smaller again makes no sense to me :?

3. I have no doubt that signings were forced on wenger here - maybe not the park or yossi deals cos they are right up his street, but mertesacker (whom he slated as too slow last year), santos and even arteta dont seem like arteta signings. I mean how can this deal (arteta) almost collapse cos we wouldnt pay the guy 70k per week ? :o This is from a club that pays bendtner 52k per week (which the ssn pundits were amazed at) whilst I think theo earns even more  Fair play to arteta cos he took a 10k pay cut to join us 8) :barscarf:

Make no mistake this transfer window has been far from a success for us - yes we are better than last week but we are still nowhere near the level a club like ours should be at :( A battle for 4th is still the best we can hope for and lord help us if mertesacker or arteta get injured

I don't get the moaning I really don't. Mert, Arteta and Santos are all proper quality! I for one would have taken them all at the beginning of the window, no question! Also, we won fuck all with C’esc and the chubby lesbian, so get the bad apples out of the cart (not that I think Fabs was, love the guy but you know, they’ve gotta wanna play for us and all that) and get in some very decent consistent men! All of them are leaders, and let’s be honest, you lot would all have got shot of Clichy at the start of the window and rightly so, and last year when the chavs signed Benayoun many of us were saying that’s exactly the type of player we need so let’s hope he’s fit and has a resurgence in his career!

My only gripe is it took the Mancs to embarrass us to new heights and fall well behind the pace this early to get this all done. And, they all didn’t have a proper pre season, which lets be honest at this level is appalling, but fuck it if that’s the hand that rocked the cradle then so be it! Let’s get behind them from now on and look at the positives, we have a bit of a squad to push for top 4!!!

Ha, no I realised I did in a way, I mean I don't get the negativity with the quality we've bought! If we'd signed Arteta from like Madrid or AC Milan we'd all be loving this and going off it, but as it's Everton and not too glamorous I think we're losing sight of just how good and consitant he is! Same for Mert and Yossi IMO...Jury's out on Santos  :barscarf: :barscarf:
