THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.

The evidence of deterioration has been there for several years, it has not been properly analysed due to the club culture - a dictatorship, and in such a culture, terror of what might happen if the status quo is challenged. As a result, the key components for a winning team in any sport have been overlooked. These include 4-5 leaders in a team, and strong defence - the statistics prove we have not had these for many years.
In any normal commercial enterprise or environment, this analysis would be performed and conclusions addressed... This is not a normal business, but more importantly, the Dictator prevents any of this analysis or questioning.

Hence, a man who is now very clearly making mistakes (which were evident years ago, if you looked) is allowed to carry on with an £8m salary and unchallenged.

The only catalyst for change will come from the terraces, who will then encourage the media to highlight a proper analysis...unfortunately, it is too late for this season, and we should acknowledge the team will need to take a step back before progressing to where we should be and can be

But the process needs to start...and that will only be from the fans and terraces , nowhere else

I have an image of Wenger in my mind. He's sat at home now quietly rocking back and forth, shuffling imaginary divisions across a map of Europe.

Having read that, I am more convinced than ever that Wenger should have been a politician - he has that 'smell' of Thatcher about him....except she had a pair of balls. :D

The first post on this thread was written 5 years ago and nothing has improved since then.

I went from loving AW, to being undecided, to thinking it was time to go, but now I'm starting to hate him.

The issues that face us (positions that need strengthening, tactical flexibility, timing of transfer business etc) seem to be accepted by the vast majority of fans.

I would therefore like to ask those fans who still feel AW should stay: Why? Genuinely, thinking logically, why do you hold a contrary view to the majority on this forum?

To the WOBs; please, should anyone reply, no abuse, I would genuinely like to hear why people (and there are certainly still large numbers of them) think he is the man to bring us success.

I could be wrong (no doubt some of the longer established members on here will tell me if so  ) but I think that my first posts on here (back in 2007) were anti wenker

I saw his half-arsed 'apology' was littered with the usual suspects in terms of his analysis - despite getting dicked 3-1 by Villa we apparently showed "great quality" and his only explanation for the defeat is that everything went against us, along with the usual suggestion that there have been no players out there this summer who could have improved the squad at all.

I never listen to his press conferences now as he just utters the same gibberish over and over ad nauseum, it's sad to see what has become of an obviously intelligent and urbane man. For the sake of his health, and that of the club, I wish he'd just resign.

I seen on the sky sports app, he was blaming the penalties being awarded for losing the game. Both were proven to be correct decisions, makes him seem even more foolish. You can imagine the excuses already being lined up, for the Fenerbanche game :banghead:

The villa game was DIRE, I don't think £80 million would be enough to compete with the rest!

WE need more ACTION against the board, our team is now a mid table team, yes the ref wrongly sent off Laurent,
but the team performance was crap.

BSM & REDaction should get together, so we can have mass protests every game until gazidis and kronke (or is it the krankees) leave and sell up.

Fulham is our next game, (can be tricky) and the spuds, we could be looking at played 3 and lost 3.

I want my arsenal back, do YOU? Get up, stand up! Fuck off out of our club!
