SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So when the other clubs ramp up their prices, he will just pull the plug!
I don't think he's panicking either - but that's the narrative the club have allowed to develop. In fact, read some of the Cabaye articles and there's often a mention to the bid being in response to the Villa game and "spend some fucking money" chants.

The club have set themselves up for this in a way the media could only dream of. We'll have more column inches written about us than any other team now. Excellent work

You'd be forgiven for thinking we go out seeking for bad publicity. :?

Either there aren't enough names on the list
or we're going through it too slowly!

One hoped that having left all our business to the last minute 2 seasons ago, lessons would have been learned but alas no.

Last season the club seemed to have learned some lessons because regardless of what you thought of them as players Giroud and Podolski were recruited 'early doors' and played a part in pre-season

Why on earth we have allowed this situation to develop this year is beyond any of us

Ha ha - I genuinely hadn't seen this when I posted just now. So we're already up to £47m for Williams, Michu and Cabaye......just 2 more weeks of panicking to go before the deals get closed out at around £60m in total

And all three of them are just squad players at best

ONE ARSENE WENGER........THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

Ask yourselves - £80m for two world class strikers.......£60m for three Joe Average no-marks. The Wenger school of economics

In the space of a few months we've gone from Fellaini, Rooney, Suarez, Higuain, Bender and Bernard - all international class players to a couple of journeymen at Swansea and a poor man's Arteta.

Looking forward to super super quality players like barry, kalou, flamini or from french ligue 1 or 2 joining us. Fingers crossed that none of them has already set their mind on becoming a postman even if we bid for them

Meanwhile Spurs are weighing up a £30m bid for Willian, a player of proven CL class and who terrorised the Chavs in that competition

Still I bet Barca are shitting themselves that Ashley Williams will be preparing to man mark Messi in the last 16....and that 'no shots on goal' record in the Nou Camp will be banished to history when Michu weighs in with a hat-trick

If we'd bought Cabaye six weeks ago for 8-10 mil I'd have been relatively happy. Experienced, intelligent, flexible, infinitely better than Ramsey, but he's hardly the answer to our problems at the moment.

Williams as 3rd/4th choice CB would be OK, but nothing more and not at more than 8mil or so.

Michu, likewise. Maybe 15mil in the current climate. A very good player to have in the squad, but nothing special.

So we get rid of the Squid, Djourou, the Forehead etc and replace them with marginally better players, but for a lot more money.

What's AW got a degree in?

Dun forget we still have Bendtner. Bet Barca defenders will be gasping in horror when they see a Danish bull charging towards them
