SSN reporting that Liverpool are in talks to take Mario Balotelli on loan. A Liverpool spokesman said " after losing Suarez it is important that we get another controversial player on board, this allows us to turn him into a victim and describe any disciplinary actions against him as a witch-hunt "

Am I the only one to still - with the last shred of hope - look online each morning hoping to see thta we have signed a player or players in the positions we so desparately need?

I try not to do it, but foolishly I still hang on to that last glimmer of possibility.... :banghead:

Thursday 21-8-2014 (BBC Gossip Page)

Arsenal are ready to fend off late interest from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow to sign Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote, 28. (Daily Star)

……………………….

Arsenal could also scupper Everton's move for Paris St-Germain midfielder Clement Chantome, 26, as they close in on his team-mate Adrien Rabiot, 19. The French side will not let both players leave. (Talksport

……………………………….

Arsenal have told Galatasaray they will sell forward Lukas Podolski, 29, but not the Turkish side's other target, 22-year-old striker Joel Campbell. (Daily Mirror)

If Song returns after rejecting (allegedly) the return of Cesc, If Podolski leaves while Sanogo and Giroud are our main strikers I won't shed a tear I will cry a river.

Transfer related stuff from press conference:
Arsenal FC @Arsenal
Wenger on signing a defensive midfielder: "We are not against that, no."
Arsenal FC @Arsenal
Wenger: "We have had no offers for anyone to leave."
Arsenal FC @Arsenal
Wenger on signings: "We are not in an emergency case but we are open to any opportunity to strengthen our defensive department."

I'd say only having two recognised centre halves at the club, one of whom is carrying an injury represents 'an emergency'.

This ^^ Artetas ankle could be a blessing. We are ridiculously light now with Flamster the hamster behaving more like a scurrying animal each season. I like his commitment but theres a time and a place for that, not every tackle please

IF Artetas ankle injury lasts for a while (As usual for us despite our new fitness coach) and Flamony gets booked in the second leg v Besictas and if we get through, we could be without ANY holding midfielder in the CL- madness culpable madness at that.

And yet, of that list only Sturridge, Rooney and Aguero scored more goals in the PL.

Then look at some of the others;

Dogbreath - past his best. Bit part player now.
Sturridge - won't have the same impact without Chomper opening up space and time for him.
RVJC - perma-crocked again. :D 8)
Balotelli - what will he score before he has his meltdown (yet again)? 8 PL goals? 10?
Lambert, Welbeck, Hernandez - all average at best, total shite at worst.

Why didn't you go the whole hog and throw in Remy, Lukaku and Barndoor?

At 16 mill Balotelli's got to be worth a punt. Whatever he does he's got to be an improvement on our current options.

Balotelli probably going to Liverpool for just £16m, and he wanted to come to Arsenal? I thought he was much more expensive, £16m for a very decent young striker (even with baggage) is a low risk decision these days so how come we're not interested? Milan were offering almost that for Joel Campbell who is totally unproven in the PL. Liverpool probably can't believe their luck if it happens at that price - with the right set up and manager Balotelli is a class act. He's strong, powerful and quick and defenders will always be a bit wary of him....don't get me wrong, Giroud is a good player, but Balotelli offers something else, especially played as the main striker. And all for £16m. Or am I wrong???? Perhaps he's too tall for us.....

di Maria is leaving RM. If it's for Utd, I'll be gutted. He is a wonderful footballer. Ancelotti must be raising that eyebrow of his at his ridiculous President.
Anyhow, no way is Wenger going to strengthen up front. I think he is def looking for a bargain defender though.
Khedira has rejected his RM new deal but has a year on his contract, so it's probably more about getting more money out of RM than moving. Or he'll move to Bayern, who have lost Martinez for who knows how long.

We'll get someone cheap. Let's just hope better than Silvestre or (insert your own names).
Just hope Theo is fit soon and stays fit. He's our best bet, although whether Wenger moves Alexis centrally or Theo centrally I doubt. I think he'll alternate Theo with Alexis and keep the tree trunks up front. :banghead:

I wouldnt take Balotelli, no way. Remi would have been a good signing but the fact that he failed a medical scraps that one.

What about Bony at Swansea?

Balotelli is a better player than Giroud and at £16m is a relatively cheap option so would he not be a decent signing for us? I can only assume his wages are stupid and Wenger is reticent because of all the off-field stupidity that follows him.

Will our forward line really be Giroud, Campbell and Sanogo for this season? Madness if so.
