The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Balotelli is more trouble than he is worth. Perhaps he will try Sanchez there when Theo is back.

Balotelli at £16m is a fucking steal. Can't believe we didn't even make a move and now the scousers have got him for that :banghead:

So they lose a world class striker and immediately replace him with another one? What a novel approach...

I was thinking/hoping the same thing, as I don't see AW buying any strikers.....or perhaps anyone else full stop.

edit: Though I am tempted to say yes to Balotelli - he just might show wenger how poor the others are?...either that or go looney toons on him and get shipped out by January :?

thats pretty much it.

they just made sure they got third i reckon.

i would guess though that he wanted 200k a week and we said no. but 16mil is a steal. what was Andy Carroll ? - 25 ?

we definitely should of bought him, if only to stop united and the mousers getting him.

I think he is a gamble, but one worth taking, 30 goals in 54 for milan, is no mean return. He could be the player to help launch a serious title challenge if he performs to his ability. Who would you rather have Mario or Giroud, if you answer Giroud then you are a fucking halfwit.

This bothers me almost as much as Fabregas.

Player we need wants to come here and we let him go to a rival for peanuts.

Wenger's spendthrift ways and devotion to older, ineffective players is going to end us up in 5th

why not both - we STILL have 100million in the bank. we should of taken balotelli, khedira, cavalho and schneiderling.

thats what an ambition title winning club does.

it drives me mental honestly. :censored:

Topgoon must have been hallucinating about the times when Mad Mario would stroll around like he couldn't be a***d. Or getting sent for stupid reasons or being a slightly unhinged fruit cake.

We have a striker that's better than Giroud we just aren't playing him. It's the same thing every summer, a team close to us buys a player that we all wouldn't have gone anywhere near but in the absence of the player we want,we suddenly extoll the virtues of said player.

Mario is a hit and miss player who downs tools on the pitch. He will let you down and he will let the victims down, just you watch.

They can have him.

Get a grip. Mad Mario has had 3 clubs in 3years...there's a reason for that.

The desperation here is like a 30 year old virgin...embarrassing.

Not saying he definitely will but I think if anyone can get the best out of him it's Brenda. He's no stranger to managing complete fruit cakes. He'll give him the freedom to do what he wants on the pitch. He'll get himself into bother no doubt, but Brenda and the Victim fans will accept this and brush it under the carpet

He really isnt though.

His disciplinary record is appalling, he is by all accounts an awful trainer and his attitude is beyond terrible. I don't want a player like that at Arsenal, as I am glad that we didn't get Suarez either.

We can do that better than that.

I know BT and Sky may have deluded everyone into thinking they did,but last time I checked they won nothing with the nutter. If they had him available for most games in the Last two seasons, with the way they play they would have won something. Nearly doesn't count or does that only apply to us.

Have a sneaking feeling we might land both Kheidra and Cavani.

What do fellow gooners make of these two articles:-

http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/08/ ... al-deal-w/

and the fact that PSG seem desperate for Di Maria but will need to raise funds first:-

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football ... -departure

If we can get both players I believe we will be a force. Even speculation that there might be a cash plus player swap Giroud for Cavani and £35 million:-

Cavani isn't worth anywhere near what we'd have to pay for him, and, at 27, I don't see Wenger breaking the bank for him.

Khedira is playing silly buggers and will walk on a free to whomsoever will pay his wages next year.
