The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He really isnt though.

His disciplinary record is appalling, he is by all accounts an awful trainer and his attitude is beyond terrible. I don't want a player like that at Arsenal, as I am glad that we didn't get Suarez either.

We can do that better than that.
If we hd gotten Suarez, we would have won the league.

Some of our most successful sides were full of characters. They weren't all saints.

This "holier than thou" attitude is holding our club back immensely.

They are footballers. They're not supposed to be the leaders on moral authority and clean living.
Remind me, which of our past players was accused of being racist?

I would rather not win the league if it is because of someone who bites people, racially abuses people and doesnt even apologise for it.

What if Ched Evans was brilliant, would you be happy if we signed him? What about Lee Hughes? If Malkay Mackay was a brilliant manager, would you like him to manage Arsenal?

What about Richard Keys or Andy Gray commentating on Arsenal tv?

Maybe you can live with those kind of people at the club, but I can't. Who plays for the club not only represents the club but also the fans.

Go and support the likes of Chelsea if you don't like the fact we aren't signing criminals & racists, they are 'legends' down there
.

Climb off your high horse before you start telling proper Gooners who they should and shouldn't support

A little bit of a history lesson for you - in the past we have had TA6 doing porridge, merse being addicted to alcohol and gambling (and using some powder substances too if memory serves me right) and GG being banned for taking a backhander and I doubt if you will find many proper Gooners anywhere who wouldn't defend them with their lives. Two of those three will forever be legends at our club and rightfully so. Where do you draw the line of moral code at the club ? Is it ok for wenker and Giroud to fcuk about on their wives with some tarts ? Before you start coming out with your sanctimonious crap, perhaps you should look back at our history

No he isn't because he'll let us down when it matters.

Campbell is a hard working striker that needs to be given a chance. Not saying he is better than mad Mario just that I'd rather trust him over 9 months than Mario.

In none transfer related but rather funny news the tinny tots are 1-0 down to the Mighty Limassol

Asking if people are Sp*rs fans, or telling them to "Go and support the likes of Chelsea" if they have an opinion that differs from yours is particularly irritating.

What do fellow gooners make of these two articles:-

http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/08/ ... al-deal-w/

and the fact that PSG seem desperate for Di Maria but will need to raise funds first:-

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football ... -departure

If we can get both players I believe we will be a force. Even speculation that there might be a cash plus player swap Giroud for Cavani and £35 million:-

http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/08/20 ... on-cavani/
Would love to see it, but very doubtful Le Wallet would pay either player the wages they'd need to make a move here.

£4 million more than Gervinho I think....Even if it didn't work - he could have always sold him on and not lost out moneywise!

This is something so many of us have been dreaming of and hoping for - But I just don't see it happening.

Yes, Wenger has bought Alexis, Chambers. Ospina and Debuchy - but I really DO NOT see him splashing the cash on either of them - we all know that a Top Class DMF would make us so much more solid in defence and so capable of challenging for the title...But even then with the present strikers we have AND his insistence on playing a 4-5-1 with Giroud maroned on his own...still means the likes of more balanced teams like man$hitty and and the chavscum will score more goals.

WENGER OUT.

Unfortunately, it will never sink it to some people that Wenger has absolutely no intention of challening for the title. Anything he does is to maintain our position in the top four and nothing more.

This may be because he doesn't trust himself in the market anymore. Maybe he's always searching for the next find, or convert the next defender to midfielder or vice-versa. Or maybe he's calculated that even another 50 million and we are still odds on not to win the league.

Whichever way you look at it, even Wener must know that by not fixing the year on year problems, that his team is going to suffer again and again and again.

did topgoon ever watch Ian Wright play ?

I agree that Balotelli may be unstable - but he was half the price of lallana and Lukaku almost.

a risk, but winners take risks don't they - if he only played 20 games and scored 10 goals, i think that 16m is good value in todays market.

poor show on our part.

Van Persie is infinitely better than Giroud and Dzeko managed the same amount of goals as Giroud despite being used mostly as a substitute.

My point is most every player on that list would score more goals than Giroud if they were Arsenal's starting striker; also, I wanted to illustrate that our back up striker is Yaya Sanogo compared to Balotelli, Dzeko, Negredo, Welbeck, Jovetic, etc.

P.S.

Dzeko scored 26 goals in 46 matches total, Giroud only manged 22 in 51...

Well done Arsenal, so pleased to be able to hold the moral high ground whilst everyone else does good business  I suppose we'll be finding out in the papers soon enough that all those other quality forwards didn't come to Arsenal because they were in fact part of an underground paedo ring :rubchin: and theres me thinking it was all because Wenger is a c*nt for thinking we have enough quality already....stupid me :banghead:

Personally Suarez could have bit who the fuck he wanted if it meant he'd have come and potentially won us the league last year. They're footballers FFS not clergy men and lets be honest some of those behave worse and then hop into a confessions box and hey presto they're absolved of any wrong doing.

I for one will be extremely pissed if this transfer happens especially if we don't sign anyone else.

The best way to win an argument is not to ignore sone fundamental parts of it and cherry pick the ones you can come back on. It implies you have no reply whatsoever to the other parts of the argument.

Go back and read the rest of the post and While you are at it,go feel your head for comparing that fruit cake yo Ian Wright.

Like the forum name by the way. Right to the point. Nothing like a bit of smoke and mirrors.
