So the PL trying to restart behind closed doors, on June 8th or whatever, to avoid losing a whole heap of TV cash.

After a week or so, a couple of teams near the bottom who've just been bashed up by Man C or Liverpool, suddenly realise that not only are they going to get relegated, but as a result could even go out of business.

So, surprise surprise, one of their players tests positive for the virus, so entire team is quarantined for two weeks, plus the one they played against.

League is totally f****d up and whole thing grinds to an inevitable halt.

Last season's placings are used to determine Europe etc, Man C ban comes into force, Arsenal qualify for CL.
Just CANCEL the whole shebang, just so long as the scouseCunts don't get to be 'Champions'... :D :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

You can bet that Norwich and Villa will be sending their players into hospitals to pat sick kids on the head while hoping they contract the virus and put the whole squad into isolation.

What would be ideal is they get one round of games in before that happens just so the victims get a little bit closer to winning the PL before NAV is announced.

It would also be quite funny to see Leeds get fuc.ked over if the season gets wiped.

All that aside, while we are all dealing with life and death matters on a daily basis the move to get football moving again so quickly does seem a little wrong.

Just to ensure a degree of balance on the political front gentlemen I would point out that any policy of closing institutions for Special Needs folk undertaken by Maggie and Major was certainly continued by the left's poster boy. Blair closed plenty of Special Needs places under the banner of 'inclusion' while thousands now live in the apartments that those old buildings were converted into after they were sold to private developers.
Sorry wasn't meant o be political but yes Blair who basically turned the Labour party into a right wing party did a lot of damage to the NHS but Maggie took her lead from Reagan who quite literally closed mental institutions which were horrible places anyway and turned the mentally ill onto the streets . I lived in NYC when they closed a huge one down which had thousands in it and sold it for real estate. The poor bastards many of which had been in institutions for years wandered all around some getting murdered in war zones others just dying of starvation ,the news used to follow them around for a few days interviewing them sick sick bastards and no-one helped.

I know a bloke who was NYPD at that time and he said it was like a warzone. He also said the dealers often cranked up those formerly institutionalised people, gave them guns and sent them into rival drug dens to blast everyone in sight. Apparently there is a landfill / mass grave in NYC filled with the victims of that time.

Hadn't heard that but it wouldn't surprise me when crack came in in the mid-late 80's the place went nuts ,I was driving to North New Jersey for a football tournament 9am o a Saturday ,and the FDR was blocked to I took short cut to the GW Bridge through Harlem but I go the turning wrong and went through a derelict area and drove straight through a crack selling operation which was like Piccadilly circus in the rush hour ,kids with huge machine guns , keeping watch and hustlers trying to sell rocks ,it was the scariest scene Ive ever seen .Turning towards the GW f less than 400 yards round the corner the police were pulling up and busting every car ,they looked us up and down and could see we weren't druggies they let us go ,Flippantly I asked him why don't you bust the operation. HE said they have better weapons more of them and none of them gives a shit about dying ……………...,fair point I thought ,NYPD have a very very hard job !

Hello chaps, haven't been on here for a few months and keep thinking that I should check in and make sure that everyone is ok.

The lot of you might know fuck all about football   , but I hope all of you and your families are well. Grim times, almost like watching a latter day Arsenal season, but it could be worse....Arsene Wenger could be running the NHS, with Xhaka as his Chief Medical Officer ! :worried:

Look after yourselves.

So the Mayor of Liverpool has come out saying that the PL season should not be restarted, due to the massive health risks.

For someone from Liverpool, that is a really powerful statement, given that it means Liverpool would not be crowned Champions.

Except.....according to his Wikipedia page, he is a lifelong Everton supporter!

Even Glenn Murray of Brighton agrees the season should stop, but then if you saw Brighton's remaining fixtures, that's hardly surprising either!

And the mayor is correct

I saw the Murray comment. There is similar from Aguero and Rudiger about their concerns about going back outside again among the dirty general public  They will be tested and double tested within an inch of their lives before they touch a football. Meanwhile the rest of us who need to go to work to make sure that society can tick along just have to go out to work and get on with it. Here you go mate a pair of gloves or some hand gel now stop sodding about and get working. Modern day fucking poncy footballers, bunch of fannies the lot of them.

To be fair to the mayor, the point he was making is that he believes that thousands of victims supporters will turn up outside the ground to celebrate their title win, and I reckon he is 100% correct in that assessment. The supporters associations can spout shite all they want, but the reality is that fans will turn up and be confident that there will be no serious sanctions for doing so. Government should threaten to take the league off them if they do go down to the ground - imagine how many everton fans would turn up outside anfield then

I am not intending to be dismissive of anyone that has died through this awful tragedy, but over here we have had just over 1200 deaths and more than half of them have been in nursing homes - tragic as those deaths undoubtedly are, the reality is that we have had just over 500 deaths occur in what I would call the outside world, and a lot of them have had pre-existing conditions, and that to me is not huge numbers. I understand that even one life lost is one too many, but I still believe that our numbers are low enough that we should have some easing of restrictions, but it seems that our government are split on the issue and the 2 big power brokers are likely to come down against easing restrictions  Personally I feel that people have had more than enough of this lockdown now, but I also believe that whenever our sanctions are eased we will see numbers go up again - where I differ from many is that I believe the increase will happen whenever sanctions are eased regardless of how long down the line that is, so I feel that they should ease sanctions slightly NOW and give people 2 weeks with some bit of freedom to refresh and it will be easier to sell the idea of needing to close down again when the numbers increase. What we are more likely to see however, is an extension of the current lockdown sanctions and fed up people getting more fed up and throw in the towel and not comply

I hear and read people over here and in the uk saying things like how sport shouldn't resume again this calendar year, and it still confuses me - are people expecting a vaccine to be created by then ??? If they aint expecting that to happen (and only a fool would), then what exactly are they looking for to happen before they feel that sport can resume ? :? I'm talking about sport here, but the same applies to every day life like pubs etc. and barring a cure is found, I dont see how these people can change their stance. Yes we will probably see a significant decrease in numbers, but it is fantasy land to think that we can get the numbers down to zero, so how low do the numbers need to go for people to get on board with a resumption of contact sports and everyday life ?
I know that for me we are nowhere near that point yet - if football returns now it will only be for financial reasons, cos every other aspect would tell us that it shouldn't come back for at least another 2 months. That being said, I do feel that it is ridiculous at this moment of time to start writing off the rest of this calendar year, and I don't support any suggestion that contact sports shouldn't be allowed back "until it is safe to do so", cos that for me is too open for interpretation (sp  ) and could be some mythical day years down the line

I think the authorities know that they have one chance at lockdown so need to go all in for as long as the public can put up with it. Businesses that have survived this lockdown can't be buggered around again with start /stop trading or more will fold. As people look at the numbers that you state and look at their own odds of survival (pretty good if you are under 70 and healthy) then the belief that life must go on will come to the fore. Here in the UK it's all about saving the NHS from collapse aka don't make the government look bad.

Below are the ONS stats for 8,700 UK Covid deaths from 2 weeks ago which includes the poor bastard who had been dying for 5 years with cancer but caught covid in his final moments and so gets included as a covid death.

Age

0 - 45 = 103 dead
45 - 55 = 176
55 - 65 = 700
65 - 70 = 550

70 - 79 = 2086
80+ = 5050

As for sport and any normal resumption of life......who the fu.ck knows, anybody proffering a date for anything right now is just hazarding a guess. I'm reading reports saying that 60% of people here currently fear going back outside.

Looking at the 5 tests that the UK government are setting and factoring in how fucking useless they have been, I can't help but wonder how effective a test telling you if you have the virus or not is actually going to be. You test negative woo hoo and go to work and catch it a day later off some other bugger and both of you wander around infecting others for a while. Test that. Until we can start testing to identify whether people have had it or not I fear that we are possibly kidding ourselves.

As I'm typing this the 5pm daily briefing on the telly have just stuck up their total deaths slide which makes the US look bad - when you look at the deaths per head of population link below though you get a much different outlook. Ironically you guys are next to the Swedes in the table and we all know that they didn't go all in for lockdown so what's that all about.
