SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

No way Casillas would come to us, major step down. We wouldn't even meet the valuation.

Heard we're in for Guaita of Valencia who by all accounts is a quality keeper and wanted by Barca.

No shit, you fucking idiot. Why do you think everyone was telling you to do business early?! If the window did close before the season starts then we'd be well and truly fucked and people would have the knives out for you wouldn't they?!

All the bullshit bingo classics in there lol

On a related note I'm surprised that with the sudden mass turning on Wenger in the media that nobody has bothered to drag up the quotes which Wenger gives every season about how strong our squad is and how it's capable of great success and winning the league - and then point to the fact we've come nowhere near winning anything. It shows that he either ridiculously overestimates our squad or gets nowhere near the best out of it (or both)- either is a sackable offence really.

Another is how he regularly revises his opinions once the heat is off. No, I didn't panic buy in 2011 - later admits it was poorly handled, but it's okay because summer 2012 will be different. We can cope with the departure of van Judas to challenge - later admits that it was a huge setback, but it's okay because summer 2013 will be different. On the off-chance he's still in a job in a year's time you can bet he'll spend the whole year defending his transfers and then when it comes round to next summer admitting that he got it wrong and we needed to strengthen to compensate for our losses, but it's okay because summer 2014 will be different.
Totally agree, i feel the hacks give wenger far to much respect, all his bullshit about we only sign quality players better than what we have...........why not reel off all of Wengers recent signings, Silvestre, Squilacci, Cahmakh, Gervinho, Park........... If Wenger does not change his policy now Arsenal will not finish in the top 6!! fact. Dont like to say it but time for Wenger to go!!

Sp*rs have signed Paulinho, Chadli, Capoue, Soldado and are on the brink of adding Willian!

We'd all be over the moon with these signings!! :(

Wenger today;

"You cannot reproach us when we bid for somebody & also criticise us when we do not. That is little bit contradictory."
"We do not want to hurt Newcastle or anyone. I do my best for Arsenal Football Club."

I didn't even edit it, he really did say 'little bit contradictory'. Needless to say, it isn't that Arsene is bidding, it's the supermarket trolley dash timing of it and the manner in which we conduct our bids, pissing off clubs all over Europe.

Lille, Liverpool, Newcastle, Bolton are all clubs that have publicly spoken out about how stinky the way we do business is. Derisory low-balling, release clause audaciousness and stealing players mid-way through their medicals all come to mind. These are clubs that we will struggle to do business with for the foreseeable future.

Wasn't that Super Quallity Park though? In which case we did them a bastard favour.

And as predicted out comes the "we bid for someone (Suarez) bullshit"

Get him in a padded cell and straight jacket before he drives us batshit insane like him PLEASE :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It was the top, top quality, super quality Park, but the principle remains that you do not simply hi-jack a transfer in that manner. I remember hearing that he literally snuck out of the hospital via a rear entrance/window. How pathetic is that?

yet another lie slipped in there on Pravda :
“We were for years restricted and we competed with exceptional quality.
we did ????

we must of competed badly then cos we lost to blackburn, norwich, swansea, bradford, schalke last year, with only one win against the top six last year in ten games, and scraped 4th on the very last day for the 2nd time in three years.

and not one leetle tiny trophy in eight seasons....

not my definition of competing Arsene. not at 65 quid a pop anyway.

i think you're mugging us off son. :rubchin:

is this competing :
Worst ever for Wenger: Fans call for Arsenal boss to resign after FA Cup shocker

By JOE BERNSTEIN
PUBLISHED: 16:07 EST, 16 February 2013 | UPDATED: 02:36 EST, 18 February 2013

Despondent Arsene Wenger rued another devastating defeat as the worst season in his 16-and-a-half-year Arsenal reign plumbed new depths amid a torrent of abuse at the Emirates.

With Bayern Munich visiting north London in the Champions League on Tuesday, Wenger made seven changes for yesterday's FA Cup fifth-round tie with Championship side Blackburn but suffered another humiliation as his team were again humbled by lower league opposition.
yeah , real exceptional quality that...

Samba (29, CB), Jucilei (25, DM), Lassana Diarra (28, DM), Willian (25, AM), Lacina Traore (23, ST) and Eto'o (32, ST) are still up for grabs.
Diarra has now joined Lokomotiv Moscow. And Willian is close to joining Sp*rs.
