The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Hope it is Wolfsburg, so he can be back at home. Good luck to him.

Juve can f**k off trying to get him on the cheap.

Just remembered Barry is at Wolfsburg as well. If the manager uses them both well (Unlike you know who) and Barry gets back to being a football player instead of a d*ck, they could form a potent partnership. They'll definitely get goals.

They are in the Europa so would love it if they end up in the scum's group and two ex-gunners strikers f**k their sh*t up

I like Podolski and I want him to stay but I'm not buying into the whole sob story for him. He's never ever going to be the leading player for a top side - I don't think he works hard enough. He was clearly signed to play on the left but it hasn't really worked out over time. If he could play down the middle on his own it would have been different...but he can't.

He's a good substitute option for Germany and probably for Arsenal as well.

What's your curry sauce mate because his agent said a few hours ago there's been no contact from Italy. :?

Di Marzio who's usually pretty good for Italian transfers has no mention of it on his twitter.

Apparently Eto'o's off to Everton, having a medical. Got that off Di Marzio.

I completely agree.
He's a top bloke, but he never worked hard enough out wide and AW is right that he's doesn't like the back to goal physical contact of playing up front on his own.
He'd could play off a target man, but how many top teams play with two up front.
I wish him the best and I wish things had worked out better but he has to shoulder much of the responsibility.

You do realize we will be a striker light, and with one week to go till end of transfer window AW is saying this:

'We have [Yaya] Sanogo who will be an important asset, we have Giroud, we have Lukas Podolski, we have Joel Campbell who can play centre forward,’ he said.

‘We have Alexis [Sanchez] and [Theo] Walcott coming back. Let’s not forget that.'

This he said today. So which means the Poldi rumour is BS. But Poldi's tweets since Saturday makes you think it isn't BS.

In all honesty we will be left with Sanchez,Giroud(who still looks shot when he plays 90mins),Campbell and Walcott who has been out for 9 months. We need a no 9 not to be getting rid of one.

You say that he was bought as a winger but (a) did podolski know that and (b) why would he play him there when it isn't his position ? IMO le cock has absorbed himself in the myth that he can buy players and convert them into better players in a different position, so he buys podolski (a striker), ozil (a no.10) and cazorla (a no.10) and convinces himself that he can make them into wingers  The problem with that plan is that when it has clearly shown to be a failed plan, le cock digs his heels in and refuses to change it

Podolski alongside another striker in a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-1-2 formation would have been a great buy but sadly under this bullshit tactical plan, he has become an irrelevence

Olympiakos accepted an £11.9m bid from Roma for Manolas. He's expected to go straight into their squad for Fiorentina on Saturday.
5:04pm - 25 Aug 14

Manolas was guaranteed regular first-team football by coach Rudi Garcia. His Greek team-mate Torosidis also helped convince him to join.

You still haven't given us a source,so don't know how if it's BS. I can't find it on the Internet.
