THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm hoping we make further signings
I'm also hoping the manager is NOT honest about his intentions to do so
and implies he's happy with the team we have

JD,
The fact is, Wenger doesn't have to say anything in front of the cameras about players like RVP. Rather than saying how Arsenal control where he plays, rather than saying that the new signings were to play alongside him, if he just said negotiations are ongoing with Van Persie, or something similar then he wouldn't show himself up to be the lying bast***that he is. He's been doing this since Anelka left! The day before Anelka was sold he went on camera and said Arsenal would not sell him. He is a compulsive liar and had zero respect for the fans of Arsenal football club. Arsenal are dead under Wenger.

I wouldn't expect Wenger to give anything away to the media - and so any opposition or other clubs he may be wanting to buy from or sell to.

It's common (Business) sense....also transfer negotiations are often made far more complicated (mainly due to the scumbag agents - they will often want payment from all 3 parties before anything is signed- player/seller/buyer - ) and it is not unusual for them to put an agreed sale/transfer deal in jeopardy purely because of their own greed...

I agree Wenger does choose the truth to suit himself on occasions....and he might be accused of not being wholly honest with us/fans....But when it comes to transfers - it really is a minefield.

Does this clandestine operation of handling RVP's departure need to involve giving the impression they are counting the beans to try to put together a package to tempt him stay, while not having any intention of offering him a contract in the first place.
Was that to push the price up or give the season tickets holders hope RVP will stay?
When will the club cease conning the supporters?

not heard that one before
Myles Palmer thinks he wanted £240k http://www.arsenalnewsreview.co.uk/inde ... al-demands
Arseblog and the Guardian agreed his demands were 'outlandish'

from that, and his original statement, sounds like it was RVP that kyboshed negotiations not the board

It really never ceases to surprise me just what an absolute court jester Arsene Wenger is.
Looks like we are going to get beaten to the signatur of Sahin by the Scousers. That's right, that club in the Europa league are going to beat us to his signature it seems. And the reason?
Our pathetic, childish, petulant diva of a 'manager, spent so long antagonising Mourinho in personal feuds, talking about Jose where he had no business doing it etc...and now we need to do business with him and Jose would rather deal with the devil.

Well done Arsene. Good to see that Arsenal FC comes before your own vainglorious bullshit arrogant egotism. Quality.

Apparently also, Mourinho 'doesn't want to sell to a potential Champions League rival'

ROFL @ 'potential CL rival'.

Still. I'm expecting to hear how we 'don't need Sahin'.

You reap what you sow. Looks like the fields of corn Arsene has planted over the last 10 years have been blighted by disease (injuries), eaten by pests (City, United and Chelsea) and the scarecrow (Wenger) has been stoood there the whole time with a couple of pigeons pecking at his face and shitting on his donkey jacket. Perhaps now those fields of corn will be left fallow for a year, with a bumper crop promised the season after.

Never heard of that old chap although I have heard of a hermit that lives in a run-down shack with just an old cocker spaniel for company. He hasn't been seen for years though...

Babs - you're upset than 'the Special One' likes an ex-employee more than Wenger...
seriously?

I rate Sahin but Jose has frozen him out
doubt he cares what Mourinho thinks unless there's a serious chance he can go back
(which makes him a less interesting signing IMO)
