Honestly, someone needs to tell el basque to shut his mouth some more cos he is getting more wenger-esqe by the day

Has the fool even looked at the points the victims accumulated under klopp when they were finishing second ? One season they had 99 and another 97 (I think) and they are points totals where you can say in another season we would have won the league, but this dickhead is whinging after getting 84 pts and 89pts  :banghead: :banghead:

That’s true augie, but you’re forgetting the special circumstances and the expected goals.

Not a fan of Arteta’s comments (or at least what I read) about Liverpool’s lead earlier. How we “should” have had two titles and how Liverpool might slip up. Judge Arteta how you like as a manager, but I think he’s always had the right attitude and dug us out of that horrible “Top 4 is the goal” mentality that had infested the club for more than decade. But those comments seemed on the verge of whiny “it’s not fair” type bullshit. Makes me question if he really believes he has the answers to our problems - more like just hoping for a miraculous Liverpool collapse and we get to sneak past them to a title on 85 points. A bit delusional.

Just like his mentor, the bullshit excuses will become more bizarre the longer he fails to win anything. He’ll be desperate to protect his highly remunerated position for as long as possible.

The club is extremely dysfunctional. We have a novice manager being allowed to spend almost a billion pounds while failing to win anything(bar a covid FA cup) and there is fuck all pressure on him. So many of our fanbase seem to treat Arteta as a footballing genius, who Is beyond reproach
Both tactically and personel wise(terrible signings) he seems out of his depth. He seems convinced that the centre forward position isn't important, and that has reduced us to looking completely clueless and impotent in attack. With a decent striker up top last night - particularly one that could hold up the ball for others, we would have wiped the floor with Brighton but Instead we were hoping to hang on against average dross. We are never winning a PL or CL under him and that makes his time in charge rather pointless. He needs to go but of course we are heading for the same mindless defense of him as we heard for years under wanker. Arteta out :banghead:

Is that the level? A Club that has never won the Champions League and were out of it for several years needs to be winning it? Even City took a decade to get anywhere close to winning it. They with a bottomless pit of fraudulent funds and a squad built over 15 years. Re the League, are we also saying that £800m guarantees you the League? I can’t see how it does when City spent about £2bn to get to that position. We have been a close second behind City last season and a bit more away the previous season due to our key centre back getting injured. This season I have sympathy for the argument we have not pushed on as our Summer transfer window was bordering on negligent. As I say he is nowhere near being sacked. Literally pointless even discussing it. We are in a good position but we need to strengthen up top. Sacking him would worsen the Club and directly lead to half the squad going.

We have needed to strengthen up top for years and his answer has been to sign a citeeh reject striker who has only ONCE scored over 10 league goals in a season, a chav reject who was considered inferior to nicholas jackson ffs, and another chav reject who is now too fat to waddle his lard arse around the pitch

Which half of the contractually bound players would be going????

And even if a few wanted out because their bestie is no longer the manager……theyre the exact players you dont want in the squad.

When this project finishes, Saliba is off for one. Odegaard won’t be far behind. Gabriel will be off too. As for Saka. Tough one. He will want to win stuff so will probably go too. I don’t think you realise how much Arteta building a team environment means to players. If you get rid of him it will mean agents looking for players to move on. That’s unless someone like Pep comes in.

The cone boy wanted to sell saliba when he was out on loan and bought white to play centre back, so no way will his first loyalty be to el basque.
Gabriel too was being squeezed out at the start of last season, so I doubt if his loyalty will be to the cone boy

If the fans can see that we have flatlined under the cone boy, do you not think that the players can see it too ? Yes there will be some players loyal to the manager as we seen with wenger cos they know a new manager may not rate them like legohead does, but sacking a manager not winning trophies will not lose the dressing room - sticking with him will though. Appointing a quality replacement will show ambition to the players who want to win trophies, but if saliba gets inkling that the club and fans are happy with top 4 under the cone boy, then for sure he'll be off

I'll be very surprised if the likes of Saliba and Saka hang around under Arteta just to be part of the "project" and to win nothing. Mind you, I'm sure we'll manage to cling on to the stars like Havertz, Jesus and Merino.

How long are you prepared to give Arteta until we see tangible success in the form of trophies won? I'm not interested in the answer that he's going nowhere if we maintain top 4, because we all know that's likely (unfortunately), but I'm interested in when you think his time should be up if we continue to fail to win anything?

Spot on, Retro.

It's like when Wenger was in his death throes as Arsenal manager. There was always that element that posted "who could replace him?" or "if we lose him the best players will leave".

Spot on, Retro.

It's like when Wenger was in his death throes as Arsenal manager. There was always that element that posted "who could replace him?" or "if we lose him the best players will leave".

Exactly DB. I suppose we did manage to keep the quality players like Denilson, Song, Almunia, Squillaci, Xhaka ( :speechless: ) etc etc, while the dross like RVP, Cesc, Nasri and Cole walked away. Strange how they ended up at clubs that were winning things.

As for the good old "who could replace him?", I'm astounded that after comfortably 10 years of that nonsense under the Old Fraud, some...and I'm sure it will be a huge number....have learnt nothing and will trot the same old bollocks out again. A couple on here that were banging that drum a few months ago have gone rather quiet and I suppose that's quite a lot to do with Slot at the scousers. I'm only moderately aware of what goes on in European football and I hadn't considered him....didn't know him to be honest, but it shows that the options are out there.

Bottom line is, it won't be hard to replace someone who wins fuck all with someone who wins fuck all. Where's the risk? Who knows, you might strike gold, but you certainly won't if you accept second best and don't prospect.
