THE WENGER THREAD
Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
Wenger HAD to get a result eventually so good on him. Mancini could do a job for a couple of years because he seems to be able to attract talent and then once the dressing room is a mess of disagreeing stars we get Klopp and the rainbow comes out.

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
I've said before that Wenger was after his own glory and driven solely by his desire to prove everyone wrong through attempting to win without spending, but he's proved me wrong on deadline day so kudos to him for that. I'm almost as happy to know that my suspicion turned out to be hollow as I'm with the signing of Özil.

No longer vehemently against....I've admitedly softened my stance since the ozil acquisition, though, I'm at least at the 'still against' level, tbf.
Quite possible more fool me, but I'm willing to cut the deluded old fool some slack till I see what vision/plans he has going fwd that he supposedly outlined to ozil in getting him to come here.

If he has now thrown in the towel re the not spending money policy then tell me why he didnt sign a top quality striker and a top quality DM ? Have some of you forgotten that of the 4 signings made this season, 3 of them were freebies

I'm probably wasting my time trying to debate this with you as you clearly have decided that one signing means that arsole has ripped up his blueprints - me personally I would rather see a lot more proof of that before coming to that conclusion

My thought process isn't limited, just fed up of whingeing gooners. Listen to yourselves, go talk to a barnet fans and what they have put up with over the last year having just been relegated and kicked out of their borough. That is a crisis.DB10GOONER wrote:Well, good fucking on ya! Yippee for you!!nut flush gooner wrote:Fucking moaning *word censored* the lot of ya. But seriously, is your thought process so limited that you can't accept some people could also have loved the win against the Vermin, loved the Ozil signing, but still be unhappy that Wenger hasn't strengthened where we needed it most? Those things aren't mutually exclusive.![]()
How is that having your life "blighted by misery"?It's just being realistic about the situation.
I am not an AKB, but ffs get a fucking grip. Get your heads out your backsides and stop embarassing our club with your narrow minded claptrap. Back in the day we had less fans but at least they got behind the team through thick and thin, you lot are a shower. Now at the emirates when things go wrong we've got gooners fighting with each other, sort it out!

Back in the day the fans backed the players no matter what did they ? How far does your memory stretch ? I remember back in the 70's plenty of players got abuse from the fans and I dont even have to go back that far cos in wenkers first full season the fans turned on the team and it resulted in wrighty sticking his head out of the dressing room window and shouting abuse at the fans.

I am talking mid 80s pal, before GG when we where shite. You got alzheimers or somat. Of course you always have whingers in every era but not as bad as today, its a reflection of our spoilt brat society I guess. If your kid gets an 'A' in English A level but 'D's in his other two subjects, it's right to give praise where it's due but question the problems that still exist, not think that you should now stop worrying because, after all, Tommy next door failed all his exams.
I'm delighted with Ozil, but as nearly everybody agrees (fans, pundits, ex-players etc) we were in desperate need of a striker (and probably a winger, a DM, a CB and a GK). I don't agree, but will accept, that AW has the right to say that Chesney is good enough, that Flamini will be the DM, but no one can pretend that our striking options are good enough to sustain a challenge over 55+ games.
We should not be satisfied with comparing our lot to Barnet et al. Our expectations are based on our history, bank balance, ticket prices, statements and promises made by AW and the Board, performances against Bradford and Blackburn etc etc. We are the Arsenal.

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
Nut flush please do me a fucking favour and shut up about " whinging gooners" I was there last Sunday and the support we gave the team was fucking outstanding! Even though at that point we hadn't signed anybody of note, we got behind the team 100%.
It costs me a lot of money to watch the Arsenal these days especially when you add in travel costs for me and my son, so the least I expect is that money re-invested in the team. If I feel that the club are not giving it their all I reserve the right to call them all the
under the sun if I want too!
Whether your are an AKB or not people with your attitude are the reason Wenger's got away with it for so long, mark my words if the boo's and spend some fucking money chants hadn't rang out after the villa game he wouldn't of spent a penny.

My rose tinted comment isn't related to arsole wenker but the fact that you seem to have a rose tinted view of fans interaction with players in bygone years and I stand by that - can you tell me how they were not as bad back then as they are today ? Could it be that they are actually no worse today but the fans now have an outlet (internet forums) in which to express their frustrations ? Try not to just see things at face value before you make sweeping comments

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
I think to be fair although we made 3 free signings at least two of them will bring some quality to the team, its only sanogo who is a joke, the flamster showed on sunday that he can be as good as anything out there especially when hes fit,hes still only 29,im really glad we were able to re-sign him, free or not he was the best man by far to fill the hole he left 5 years ago.id rather have him than a signing of £15m that doesn't cut it.at the end of the day we did ok this summer, the signing of ozil speaks for itself, flamini is still quality on sundays evidence,id rather us have done these dealings than have done what are not so noisy neighbours have done, spend £109m on a load of average purchases,id take our 4 signings over anything they have signed, frustrations aside,Wenger has done well this summer imho,he spent on super quality and added quality free signings too, maybe the old nutter does still know??I will judge him again at crimbo, and im an ardent WOBaugie wrote:1989 wrote:I've said before that Wenger was after his own glory and driven solely by his desire to prove everyone wrong through attempting to win without spending, but he's proved me wrong on deadline day so kudos to him for that.
