Carling Cup Final footy thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I was the only Gooner in my office today. All the plastics who never go to games but were giving it billy big bollocks about us winning the Cup last week were nowhere to be seen.

But instead of respect that I'd fronted up, all I got was shit all day. My boss is a Birmingham City fan as well, and predictably he was in the office...There is no justice!

Yeh i was with him then! Right at the end as we were walking out.
Were you the one with the cape or the sombrero on?

no cape mate !

its to soon for jokes i am still very angry with it all.

You must of seen me then, i was standing with the noise all of the game.
Must of done. I was right at the front behind the goal.

Do you know what struck me most... we are known for trying to pass the ball in the net and I agree with that, but it is truly shocking to see when you are right up close to it. We simply will not shoot on site. We had so many clear opportunities to shoot, but we won't. Wenger must have drilled it into them to only shoot when they are certain to score. If only he could drill our defence to defend set pieces in the same fashion.

:banghead:

I was trying all game to get people to sing up, no joy though.

I was shocked how close we were to the goal. We dont have that killer instinct or a selfish enough player like Wrighty or Henry that will 8 times out of ten score or get on traget.

tippy fucking tappy. And without RVP its like torture to my eyes to be honest.

My anger at Arsenal turned to anger for the media after reading yesterdays Daily Mail......

My view of the game was that we were poor - but still the better team overall. Brum battled well and their keeper had a good game. Got lucky is all. However, the Mail gave their players ratings of 8 with the odd 9...... Ours were 6 with the odd 5...... And they even tried to say that goal was as much about Martins being in the right place as it was a cock up on our part. Utter b*ll*cks and cheap journalism to re-write the match based on the result!
