They can say it was only a few hundred all they like!Gunner Rob wrote:NickF wrote:Welcome to The Emirates, Clash. Most are completely oblivious and don't give a shit.Clash wrote:
Didnt have match tickets so after we made our way away from the ground to find a few pubs I couldn't help notice the contrast between those at the protest and those milling about around the ground who were just there for the game. They just seemed oblivious to the problems and I heard people talking about mundane things line ups and who might score the first goal ... no dissent against the manager or thinking the game was a waste of time. Just seemed detached from it.
it is actually scary what the match going fanbase is now like.
the actual result doesnt seem to matter anymore - people seem to go to be "seen" in much the same way as people go to Royal Ascot etc.
I actually really hope that we do not qualify for the CL for the next few seasons to hopefully get rid of these sort of "supporters"
As for the fan base, that went as soon as the move was made, the move was just like after the Second World War, where communities were broken and dishevelled and where did they put them? Tower blocks concrete fucking jungles, not dissimilar to the Euphrates up the road...
Loved the interview with ATV, when the interviewer was trying to search around for the protesters but the interviewee held out and did not bite lol! Needless to say the few hundred arrived and the vocal support was real!

It doesn't matter whether there were 2, 20, 200 or 20,000 people at it,
Fact is it's the lead story on SSN, on the back page of every newspaper and was put to Wenger in the post match interview,
JOB DONE

It's really amazing that you guys did what the larger groups were never going to touch. I hope that it goes some way to convince Wenger not to sign a contact.
We expected a bit of grief as we walked past the supporters club but not a word. I think most people were surprised by the numbers and the noise we were making.
I made the point in several media interviews that we're not part of any group - just a bunch of weary and frustrated supporters
Re: Wenger Out protest, Tuesday 7th March.
Did the walk last night and went to the game. Protest a complete success imo, loud ,controlled and to the point. The walls around Wenger are beginning to crumble and i think we delivered a body blow that will prove decisive when added to the other pressure from the media which is now building. So proud to be a gooner last night.......vive la revolution.
NO NEW CONTRACT. WENGER OUT
NO NEW CONTRACT. WENGER OUT
Re: Wenger Out protest, Tuesday 7th March.
no protest ever gets 1000s of people, too many factors to take in ie logistics, work, family, timing etc . but wjile on social media last night the protest came across loud and clear , retweets of all the gpod parts were plentiful, sorry i wasnt there but a big well done to all that marched.

The more I think about last night, the more I realise that walking along holding the big NO NEW CONTRACT banner was the proudest I've been to be a Gooner for years.
How sad is that?????

Fair enough, but it does make you question the purpose (and priorities) of most of these supporters groups - a few years ago the bsm were being held up as the organization that were going to fight for the proper fans and demand change. In the last 12-18 months they have been largely silent and have not made any public statement re last nights protest. Redaction are a shower of self serving c.unts and we all know that they would never risk their close relationship with the club, to change the direction and staleness in the club. The AISA and AST and the other official supporters groups must also be happy with where the club is going cos they too have been silent

I'm not saying that these groups should be making an official statement encouraging their members to attend, but I do think that a statement along the lines of "our group can understand the feelings of these fans, and while we as an organization have no official position on these protests, we would support the rights of any of our members to partake if they are unhappy with the manager". I don't think that the protests need the various groups alongside them organizing these protests, but I do think that maybe we need their members to boost numbers
Can I also make one suggestion for any future protest - organize one person to bring a megaphone so that the chanting is in unison thus making it louder and more organized ? On the various clubs it did appear that on occasions there were a few voices chanting on their own
Re: Wenger Out protest, Tuesday 7th March.
Very well done to everyone involved. Pictures and videos are all over the web. It's a start and a very successful one!
I was nervous the whole day, waiting for you guys to succeed, just like waiting for a big match, back in the day, when Wenger hadn't sucked all the joy of watching us.

congrats , I didnt watch it was there much of a storm in the ground at all ??

The moment BSM become an official "Wenger Out" group, the harder it will be to work with other groups and organisations, due to how that paints you. We've never been WO, but worked to get a better deal for the fans, as seen by the £30 cap on away tix that the whole of the PL fan groups pressured them in to doing.augie wrote:Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:Not that I saw.DB10GOONER wrote:Actually that makes me wonder... lads, was there anybody at the protest openly representing any of the official (or semi-official) fans' groups?begeegs wrote:Well done to everyone who organized and attended the protest.

As to making the statement about members joining the march, BSM did all it could to promote it and there were a lot of the members there on the march.

So, what's next?
Saturday too soon? Protest gathering outside the Director's Entrance early doors?

Not too soon at all, the pressure is on and it can only get bigger...mzk90 wrote:So, what's next?

Re: Wenger Out protest, Tuesday 7th March.
I thought it was an excellent turn out. There were at least 300 people, maybe more even though a lot of media are downplaying it saying around 150.
The moment that first 'We want Wenger out' chant boomed out was one of the best football related feelings I've had for years.
All the people I spoke to last night were all well up for doing it again for the Lincoln game. Should we start getting the word out again for that match? With it being a 5.30 Saturday game, the march could start at 2 or 3pm and I think it's possible to get double the numbers of last night.
We've got him on the ropes now, let's finish him off.

You beat me to it Mark. Just about to post the same thing.mzk90 wrote:So, what's next?

We MUST keep this going now. Lincoln is live on TV so the media will be out in force. And conversely - if we don't protest we'll be written off by Lineker and Co.
