The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Is anyone going to watch Monday night's transfer deadline day on Sky ?

The prospect of us closing out another window woefully under prepared for the season ahead and having 'Arry back on the fucking screen hanging out of the 4x4 window saying what a "traffic lad" he's just signed is too much to bear

of course, what else would any true gooner be watching when there's a chance of a last minute loan deal for alex mong and we confirm that calvalho, cavani, etc are really not coming.

you can hear it now can't you ? :

"wheel yeez, when ah knew Alex was available i jumped at the chance to re-establish our dream pairing of Song and Diaby...."

I'm extremely hopeful that we'll manage to pull out a few last minute big transfers, but realistically it just won't happen. The only reason we got Ozil last minute was obviously thanks to Bale going to Madrid, but where is movement like that going to happen this time? Big players won't be sold so close to the window shutting, so it certainly looks like we're stuck with what we have, at least in midfield and up front :(

I will be amazed if Carvalho, Cavani and Falcao don't move in this transfer window but I will just as amazed if any of them join Arsenal, Falcao has to move but the figures quoted are insane, 20 million for a years loan is not going to look an attractive deal for any club let alone a club as tight as ours. Carvalho is the most likely but we have been linked for ages and nothing has happened, expect more dithering from clueless which results in him being snapped up by UTD.
Cavani I would rule out on the basis of him being a forward and why would we need one of those?
Roll on Tuesday, we'll all be out of our transfer misery and the rage will be starting to decline.
