The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

2-year loan, weird :?
Not really. It's the perfect solution for both clubs.

He's got two years to run on his contract. Send him out on loan to Milan for those two years. They agree to pick up his wages. Thus, he's off your books and Milan don't have to pay a transfer fee for him. At the end of the two years, he won't belong to either club and he can go on his merry way.

I seem to remember the Chavs doing something similar with Crespo.
It's a good deal for Milan in that sense, they're essentially picking him up on a free and are perfectly positioned to renew in 2 years time if needs be. But what you're saying only makes sense for Chelsea if there was no non-competitor willing to pay any sort of fee for him. I don't believe that no non-English clubs are willing to take a punt on him for £10m or less.

Reality is Chelsea don't give a shit about going through the time and effort of enticing bids and playing hardball to get him to go for the sake of £8m. And when they have clubs queuing up to throw stupid fees at them for their squad players (at best) like Luiz, Mata, Lukaku and de Bruyne it's not really that surprising. I checked at a random point last season and they had 28 players loaned out. It's a joke and it pisses me off far more than them paying stupid amounts for the odd player.

I'd be ok with remy joining us - I did want him to join us as no.2 striker earlier this summer but now with things the way they are, he would probably be our 1st choice striker

This weekend must have been scripted by le cock though - he will know that he is still under pressure from the fans to buy with just 2 days in the transfer window remaining, but he will be able to say that his focus is on tomorrows game thus he will be unable to give any thought to buying until tomorrow night or Monday morning. It's a ready made excuse for the c*nt
