Re: Let's All Laugh At Man Utd!
I hope they stick with Moyes. United won't stay down for too long, they are a huge club and have massive resources that they will throw about until everything is right again.
So hopefully they'll let Moyes stay in charge long enough to ensure that those resources are pissed away. Can see £30m+ more heading in Everton's direction for Ross Barkley.

i'm greatly enjoying reading the papers online today - a sea of 4 & 5's in the player ratings.
one shot on target against a second tier club like Olympiakos is Pathetic.
i don't think Moyes will go unless/until they lose the 2nd leg at home.
its too late to sack him now anyway - transfer window is shut and 4th place has gone.

Moyes won't go this season. The whole thinking behind his appointment over someone like Mourinho was stability and long-term thinking and they're not going to sack him less than a season in (especially when just about everyone acknowledges their squad punched well above its weight last year). Equally can't see Moyes walking away this soon, he's a stubborn bitter bastard and he knows he ain't going to get another opportunity of anything like this magnitude.clockender1 wrote:i'm greatly enjoying reading the papers online today - a sea of 4 & 5's in the player ratings.

What- the forum, Man Utd Bendtners Drinking Buddy or Augies posting?
The Moyes rumour. Nothing on the webz anywhere.
Thanks for everyone's welcome. Long time reader of the off-line fanzine (going back to 96/97) but new to forum. Got pissed off with the insane amount of posts on the other Arsenal forums and this one looks to move at a more sedate pace.

I agree Northbank, but their financial model to service their debt is based on finishing 4th and the QF's of all cup competitions.northbank123 wrote:Moyes won't go this season. which in 2014-2105 ain't gonna happen now.
their debt is still 380million, despite paying 680million since 2005.
just the interest is 71 million alone. last year with winning the EPL and competing in the ECL, they only made 17m profit, which is gone in one fell swoop by not being in the ECL.
I think the Glazers sack him in the summer, as united HAVE to win the PL and a cup in 2015 just to break even.

But seriously the more off the pace United are at the end of this season the more inclined they'll be to chuck as much money at the problem as it takes to make sure that it only happens the once.

oh i agree, but where to get that money - big ticket price rises or sale of other assets ? everyone in the US knows how leveraged they are and how cash strapped the US franchises are and the Bucs attendances and games are dismal.northbank123 wrote:Be careful what you wish forTheoperator wrote:They could be another Leeds![]()

i think they definitely sell RVP, Vidic and encourage Rio to retire to get the contracts off the books, but where they will get the 200million required to buy 2CB's a DM, another winger and Striker i do not know, and i don't think City, Chavs and Liverpool will be any weaker next year do you ?
i think its a 2-3 year project to rebuild with their limited cashflow - Fergie really really screwed them imho.

btw even if they put their season tickets up by 200 quid each - they only get 15million. equal to the fat granny shaggers wages.

Disagree, he only screwed them in the sense that he gave Moyes the job (unless that's what you mean). I personally don't buy into this stuff about them having a crap squad.clockender1 wrote:

When you look at it they have an embarrassment of attacking riches and plenty of other players that are far from mid table scrappers. I think it was inevitable that they would suffer in the first season after Fergie left, especially without going for a big manager like Maureen. But at the end of the day they've added Januzaj, Fellaini and Mata, and taken nothing away from a team which cantered to the league title last season and yet they're way off the pace for even a top 4 spot and almost out of every other competition.
No, they don't have the best midfield or defence in the league but they have plenty of players there with enough experience and ability to be competitive at the top of the game if managed and motivated properly.
Moyes is way, way out of his depth and has no idea how a team at that level should play.
Still,

LDB - but giggs, rio and Vidic are a year older. no-one rates cleverly, young or carrick do they ?
and the team that won the title dragged scholes out of retirement and he wasn't a bad player. people forget Scholes bailed them out from january onwards.
junazj is young, kagawa is inconsistent, Rooney is middling.
Fergie should of gone out then (in January 2013) and bought a replacement for Scholes - but he didn't.
