Re: Super Jack
Problem is he doesn't have a position which he excels in. As a DMC he is too rash and is not an athlete like Flamini was; too vulnerable to be a MC as he is injury prone and makes poor decisions such as running with the ball; too slow to be a winger. I remember at the end of the 2012/13 season we were wanting Jack to get out the first team to ensure CL footy and this is kind of the point- he is currently a liability. Unless he does a Ramsey I think he will just be that obligatory player we must play because he is english.
I haven't given up on him but he needs to pack it in and not just pretend to pack it in, such as the cry to Scholes for help. He needs to learn when to release the ball and when to make a run & if he doesn't do it this season then I think he should be moved on.

Re: Super Jack
I have locked the other thread as we only need on Jack thread. Quite happy to merge them, but that one had been going a while.
Re: Super Jack
Good work there Chippy, lock an active thread in place of a vanity threadChippy wrote:I have locked the other thread as we only need on Jack thread. Quite happy to merge them, but that one had been going a while.

Re: Super Jack

Seems a bit silly to lock the more active thread unless you did so because it was more anti-Jack from the start than this?

Seems a bit silly to lock the more active thread unless you did so because it was more anti-Jack from the start than this? Not at all. When I came across this thread it had already got about 15 posts and one of those was from a mod who didn't merge them. Sometimes threads get a bit leggy after a few months and as this one went of in a slightly different direction I thought I'd lock the other one. What a bastard eh?
You guys are really funny sometimes. There used to be a time if we merged threads the pitchforks would be out. Never mind I'll merge them now and wait for some fcuker to whinge about that.
Peace.

I still reckon my idea of banning everyone except us mods is a goer!

Yes............is the answer to the original question!!

Re: Jack Wilshere: Over-Rated?
I have been thinking and whilst it is clear that Jack ATM is a liability, a sort of obligation that we must play despite not having dominated a position, he is less of a liability on the right wing.
Think about it- Jack likes to run with the ball. He likes to cut inside. He isn't particularly all the fast either or physical so a cutting in right hand sider would be his ideal role. Now there is a problem and that is it generally doesn't work to have 2 inside wingers and Cazorla will probably be played on the left so here's how if I were manager and had to play Wilshere, would line up:
--------------------------Sir Chez--------------
Dabouchy------Kosch-----Merty/new cb----------Gibbs or a new LB
------------------------DMC-------------------
---------------------
--Ramsey------------------------------
-------------------------------------Cazorla---------------
-----Wilshere------------------------------------------Ozil/Pod/New left footed LWF
----------------------Sanchez-----------------------------
The only problem I see is that left wing maybe a bit slow and Wilshere isnt all that fast either.
I think, and bare in mind I am resigned to accepting Ozil is staying, Podolski & Arteta should be shown the door so we can get Di Maria or Griezman.
If we do that then we will have a squad just about big enough and talented enough, whilst accommodating Wilshere.
