Re: Unai Emery
I think dick knew he had a lot of work to do and he's going to do it.
how quickly the players take to his coaching and Carcedo's is going to be the question, but he's only had them less than a month.
right now, it looks like that won't happen overnight despite the double training sessions.
the city and chav games are going to be a real test of his tactics.
but after that we have a real opportunity to develop and go on a decent run against lower table and mid table clubs - WHU, Cardiff, Everton, Watford, Fulham, Leicester & palace before we are at home to the Mickeys in November.
Where we are at the end of October - top 8 or so, will determine our season.

exactly pal. if we can't go on a run against that lot then this is going to be a longer rebuild.Ernie71 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 6:40 amoh yeah those mid to bottom table teams. We won 2 away games v the bottom 12 last seasonclockender1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 02, 2018 4:03 pm

which is bollocks, but that's where we are - that's the ex-managers legacy.
Re: Unai Emery
I didn't know where to post this, but it's mind boggling that Emery has sanctioned a new deal for Iwobi. I'm all for wiping the slate clean when a new manager comes in, and giving players a chance, but Iwobi is shit, and will end up in a few years as another expensive dud, hanging around like a bad smell and refusing to leave until he has ridden the gravy train to the end of his contract.

Did you watch elninny the other night ? A new contract for that fool is absolutely unbelievable and disgraceful in equal measure

Re: Unai Emery
There is a big difference in the two situations, in that Elneny's new deal came in the last days of Wenger's time in charge, so can be put down to one last crazy decision from wanker. In Iwobi's case, how did Emery think he deserved a new deal? In a few years, Iwobi will be moving to a mid-table team, and then on to the championship, he is that shit.augie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 8:42 pmBFG4 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 5:38 pmI didn't know where to post this, but it's mind boggling that Emery has sanctioned a new deal for Iwobi. Re: Unai Emery
Doesn't sound like you're "wiping the slate clean" and "giving the player a chance".

Re: Unai Emery
It was so very refreshing to see an Arsenal manager actually checking out the opposition live at the stadium before we play them. He would#ve learnt so much more about his next opponents.

It's weird is what it is. Preparation? What the actual fuck? What next? Tactics? I'm not comfortable with it at all.

Re: Unai Emery
He probably doesn't want to wipe out most of the squad at one go. How I see Chambers' and Iwobi's new contracts is that maybe the want to protect their transfer value and in Iwobi's case we really need a backup on the wings. Or, Emery sees some potential in them and wants to keep 'em around longer to be sure if they've got something in them or not.BFG4 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 5:38 pmI didn't know where to post this, but it's mind boggling that Emery has sanctioned a new deal for Iwobi. Having checked out citeh and the chavs Dick now knows that we are more likely to be seriously humped in our first match rather than our second match

Re: Unai Emery
I'm enjoying the fact that Emery is stealthily going about his business under the radar. He's more successful with his previous clubs than any manager we've appointed since Herbert Chapman, yet few think he can get us back in the top 4. I think we're bang on certs for top 4. Our forward line is as good as any in the league. The midfield has been strengthened as has our defence. We're in for a season we haven't experienced for ages. I'm gonna sit back and take it all in.
