The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Anything less than another centre half, a world class defensive midfielder and a striker before 11pm Monday night borders on gross incompetence on behalf of our manager in my opinion. It is blatantly obvious, the whole world can see it except for one deluded French man. I hope that I am speaking too soon. I've spoken up for the guy for so long but this is scandalous. We need another CB because we currently have 6 defenders in the whole squad. Arteta was finished last season if I am being honest, Flamini won't cut it in terms of a title challenge. We could have used another striker before Giroud even got injured. I'm not saying spend 40 million on a striker but we need another proven goal scorer. He clearly had no faith in Podolski and Walcott through the middle, it is too much pressure to expect Cambell to produce and Yaya Sanogo is, well he's Yaya Sanogo. Without these 3 players anybody who expects us to compete with Chelsea and Man City, despite their loss today, is living in a dream land.

Good job that we gave up pretending to bother with such things a while ago then.

Wenger didn't want Carvalho for 25M pounds. But Sporting want to sell him badly because his price might lower if they don't sell him.

So, Sporting lowered his price 21,5M and Arsenal therefore are now in talks with Sporting.

Carvalho will be a gooner on Tuesday.

Why the fuck can't we have a decent manager with just an ounce of ambition?? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

.....not to mention tactics.
Keep your voice down, I got told off for questioning our deal leader's role in running our club. You have to remember just all the happy things and ignore his Nero like fiddling whilst our ambition burns to a crisp.

Didn't you post similar shit from this source a couple of weeks ago? The price seems to have dropped from £35m but it's the same story.

I am devoid of optimism mate so will do you a sportsman bet that AW and Bald Ivan will probably try to low ball even more, Sporting will get f**ked off and sell him to manure/Chavs and we will promote Coquelin because we have super quality and don't need to spend. :banghead:

He will not be an Arsenal player.

Poker games  risk missing out completely, to save 3.5 m, which although a decent amount we have spent / wasted more than that on Wenker's vanity projects + gambles aplenty. What if someone else rolls up and puts £23m on the table ?
Would rather have had the deal signed and sealed either preseason, or early enough to partake in opening matches to integrate with the squad and hit the ground running.

I remain your humble servant, and will await further news.

Haven't seen him play so can't get excited, do you know much about him?

With our threadbare squad right now I'd be happy if we dug up Socrates and gave him terms.................

Stop for gods sake man - want to believe it but there is not an ounce of me that believes that we will sign him before Tuesday :( Your willingness to latch onto all types of media bullshit is both commendable and sad and if you really buy into these stories then you must suffer some really dark days when it don't happen

Perhaps resign ourselves to 3 years of dark days..dark years as it were....preparing like that might make it easier...but set a timer for 3 years time when he couldnt possibly sign a new contract could he??

And what if he goes upstairs in the club...will a new manager be hit with wengers bolloxology from above...worrying years ahead!!!!!
