The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You were a fool to think Falcao was ever happening.
I never thought it was happening. I was referring to the fact we were linked with Falcao and suddenly we might end with Remy.
Then it was pointless comparison to make.
Thanks for the clarification

Just back off holiday. Not surprised to see we're not even remotely close to signing anyone, but reading through this thread is a wonderful cure for the post holiday blues. Falcao?!!!

Demun210 wrote:I'm still 50/50 about Remy. But, in the here and now, this pretty much boils down to the fact Chelsea will offer £25k more a week than we will, and he'll most likely join them. Pretty poor strategy from Arsenal, he's been there for the taking all summer. Should have moved for him weeks ago if we were really serious about him.
He was always going to be a plan C, last day, last min signing

He'll still go to the chavs as we left it far too late according to this report.

Wenger is a completely clueless fucking idiot.
Gee you think :banghead:

I hope he does join those chavvy :censored: ,we had 3 months to sign him :banghead:

Remy is better than Torres so not sure it is a Maureen smokescreen.

Not surprised to see Wenger is frantically dashing round bargain basement either. Except those pompous rich nouveau riche neighbours from down the street have got there first and got themselves the last bargain on the shelf, even though they don't really need/want it

I think we had no plans to sign him or any other striker until Giroud fell over. Although he would likely play most games for us, he will follow the money, which will, er, lead him elsewhere.

So sad, a complete dereliction of duty by the manager, but we get used to that.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Just a random thought, is there nobody in the lower divisions that's could do a job for us?, years ago we poached good defenders from Stoke of all clubs, Bould and Dixon, now unless they come from foreign divisions we don't seem to be interested, surly there has be some talented CB'S about?

There's a young forward I think called Afobe plying his trade at the MK Dons who would be very cheap.....

Oh wait!!

It's that time of year again: Deadline Day.

Conveniently, we have a match against Leicester to navigate which provides Wenger with the perfect excuse not to make any further signings... I mean, come on, we can't expect him to manage our team and wrap up transfers on the same day! There simply wasn't enough time, it's not as if he's had three months to get our business done.

You think we will defeat Leicester easily,I am not so sure. Things AW teams struggle against such as Physicality of the oppo, really fast counter attacking and well organised in defensive and offensive set pieces are qualities Leicester have in abundance. The one saving grace is Schlop and Nugent are championship quality.

Even still they will battle and get in our faces, draw written all over it.
