I don't think you can say that, wed still be top even if the rest had been better,1 defeat and five wins is quality no matter what the rest have/haven't doneDan_85 wrote:Hmmm. Let's be honest, our current league position isn't down to Wenger's genius is it? It's down to all the other teams around us being shite/adapting to new managers etc.MOTD's Guy Mowbray at the Liberty

The results may be plastering over the cracks however they are doing a good job of it.

Good point, well made but can you do the same for Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Spuds and Liverpool for a direct comparisons pleaseVoiceOfReason wrote:From the exact same six fixtures last season, we took 18/18 points. This season, it's 15/18.

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
Im liking this thread, we should have a draw saying how many pages down the forum it will be at the end of the season.
One thing that is clear is that we are competitive again this season, I can see one of manure, chelski or city bombing out (probably manure with that joke moyes in charge who I never rated). Is that enough for the doomsayers
, probably not but I would rather discuss arsenals resurgence than go over a subject thats become soo tedious.

You can't say City have had a tough set of fixtures yet they're 5 points behind us. United is the only notable game I can remember them having so far.northbank123 wrote:The biggest factor is obviously our fixture list. Looking at the table you'd have to be a bit of a simpleton (or work in the media) to not realise that us and Spurs are top of the tree because we've both had kind starts in comparison to others.Dan_85 wrote:Hmmm. Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
Im all for Wenger, new to here, so dont shout me out. Just remember the years when the club wasnt going too well.
The only downside is our inability to get other Premier league sides to loan or sell players to us.
Is this Wengers fault, or are other teams so scarred thet they dont want us to run away with the league
Other thing that bugs me is he is stubbon and doesnt often have players back- why not go for fabregas for instance, what a mistake for a career to go to Barca. Why wasnt a no premier league return clause signed.
Forgive if this has all been said before, but the thread will take longer to read than Wengers tenure at The club

would you say we should be careful what we wish for?

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
Nuff said. We've been very average in most of those games too.VoiceOfReason wrote:From the exact same six fixtures last season, we took 18/18 points. This season, it's 15/18.
Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
For those getting carried away - and I've seen it here, on Twitter and from non-Gooners in the media - just look at the following.
Last season - 2012/13
Aston Villa (H) W 2-1
Fulham (A) W 1-0
Tottenham (H) W 5-2
Sunderland (A) W 1-0
Stoke City (H) W 1-0
Swansea (A) W 2-0
P6 W6 D0 L0 F12 A3 *POINTS= 18*
You'll notice those are the same matches that we've played this year...
Season 2013/14
P6 W5 D0 L1 F13 A7 *POINTS= 15*
So looking at it that way (and on the basis that we haven't really faced a major title rival yet why not) - we are actually THREE WHOLE POINTS off being on target for a season where we finished fourth and got just 73 points.
I'm sticking by the fact it's the fixtures AND NOT that we've improved!
