SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He'll bring in freebies like Flamini to patch things up.

He has said we need bodies because we're short but the quality is there already (laughable).

"We only want top top top players".

Lying *word censored*.

Real fans have real patience......not like the 'modern day' fans my Dad berated after the Villa game !

Anyway, it takes time analysing every single player 24 hours a day

ONE ARSENE WENGER.......THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

Don't you get started on Geoff! Apparently he's reliable with team news but regarding transfers he jumped on the same Higuain/Fellaini/Rooney/Jovetic bandwagons as everyone else.

The Flamini deal is going to happen sooner or later, it's a free shot to claim that you have inside info given that there's only 5 days left to sign players. I know unattached players can still sign after but I highly doubt he'll be without a club come 3rd Sept.

like QPR last season...fantastic players that we had also been linked with. Remy, Samba, etc...I still think we are stronger except in goal we need a world class keeper, just need quality to fill in when the injuries hit. The Ox, Arteta, Podolski, TV5, Diaby that's the subs bench stripped down. Micah Richards would be ace replacement for when Sagna gets injured cos it will happen sooner rather than later.

This may well be the year they surpass us but they won't challenge, not even nearly.

They don't have any players near the talent of the likes of van Persie, Rooney, Aguero, Silva, Yaya Toure and they'd kill for a Mata, Hazard, Oscar etc. They have more depth now but the likes of Andros Townsend still managed to get a game and their defence is still very average.

yeah tbf i remember spuds doing this under Irving Scholar and when that Consortium first came in - spent loads on talent that 2 years later was gone..

not a guarantee of success but i would of liked to see us break our transfer record three times in one summer :banghead:

still, as others have said. maybe that 100mill is best left for a new manager next year.

Is it too late to hand our "principles" over to Real Madrid, and beg them to let us match the offer we walked away from for Higuain?

BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal in Secret Talks to Hijack £16 million Rated Striker. Flamini Signs For Arsenal.
Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Brazillian international striker, Leandro Damiao, according to latest reports.

Damiao who currently plies his trade at International is believed to be on the verge of a potential move to North-London as Arsenal representatives are currently holding secret talks with his club. Arsenal's rivals Tottenham Hotspur were also showing interest in the 24-year old who has made a series of impressive performances both at his club and country but since they've gotten Soldado, they've since pulled out of the chase.

With Arsenal gunning to strengthen their attack, £16 million wouldn't be too much to secure the signing of the Brazillian who has a record 83 goals i...

anyone else see this, oh the irony :
Tottenham Hotspur are to hold talks with Ajax star Christian Eriksen.
Christian Eriksen is close to a move to White Hart Lane.

Ajax director of football Marc Overmars confirmed he had met with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Wednesday, with reports suggesting the Premier League side have increased their offer to over €10 million.

Ajax were reported be seeking €15 million for the Denmark international, 21, who has one year remaining on his contract.

Overmars told De Telegraaf that Eriksen was now set to hold talks with Spurs, with the clubs apparently having come to an agreement over the fee.

"Yes, Levy was here and Eriksen has been given permission to speak to Tottenham," he said.

However, Overmars is still hopeful that the player will stay.

He has planned this all along. Le Arsehole will come out in the end and claim that "we tried hard to sign players, but the top players are happy at their clubs who didn't want to sell to us", knowing beforehand that we didn't stand a chance of signing any of these players in the first place. He doesn't want to spend money. He's taken it as a challenge upon himself to win trophies with a profit to prove everyone who has said he has to spend to win wrong.

He's on a personal ego trip at the expense of Arsenal Football Club.

Which is what some of us were saying way back when everyone was banging on about the 'done deal' that was Higuain

I think I was in a small minority who thought he definitely would not sign a player for more than £20m.

Anyone still care to have that bet now?

The man is as unsuited to football in the year 2013 as Ron Atkinson is to be head of equal opportunities at Channel 5

Tomorrow will be the 60th day since the 1st of July with out a major signing.

This is not good enough for a club of our size, BIG CLUB but the board have NO ambition

There is going to be a lot of shit coming his and the boards way if we lose on Sunday?

I hope Arsenal do read our comments on the Gooner, coz this year they have let the fans down yet again.

I hope Arsene has learnt his lesson about selling top top players to there rivals, they won't sell to us.

We should of sold RVP to a Spanish club.
