Anyone a fan of Denilson, Eboue or Song on here?

At the moment, Song + Denilson = world class defensive mid. Seperatley they are each sub-par. So playing them together is the best option, however, it almost forces us to play a 4-5-1 which is maybe going to limit either Nasri, Arshavin, Diaby, RVP, Eduardo, or Bendtner from also playing.
It will be interesting to see what AW does with the line-up against Wigan. Will we go 4-5-1, and if we do, then who plays between Nasri and Arshavin? Do they both play and Walcott out? Or do we go 4-4-2 with Cesc plus Song OR Denilson in the middle, and not both?
We shall see. Personally i'd like to see 4-4-2. Ade up front, Nasri just behind. Arshavin left mid with freedom to cut inside. Walcott wide right. Denilson and Fabregas in the middle. If Eduardo and RVP are healthy then they can both sub for Ade and Nasri, or Arshavin and pull Nasri back left.

I could say the same thing. Superb based on what exactly? Assists? Goals? Tackles?
He can't tackle, can't dribble, and he only passes to a red shirt with any consistency when he's doing one of his famous short sideways daisycutters. When I think of Denilson, I usually think of him getting skinned, or passing direct to somebody on the other team. Sure he's young, but playing week in, week out, you've got to be good enough no matter how old you are.
He has had a few decent games, but only against poor teams, and in any case, it's the most important part of the team - having "some decent games" doesn't really justify a regular first-team place.
I'd say he's the worst regularly-selected first-team player I have ever seen wear the shirt. There have been worse, sure, but none who are apparently the first name on the team sheet.

You're right - that's where I've been going wrong.Tom14 wrote:You need to watch games properly if you think he cannot tackle. The guy has an awesome tackling rate.

Why, so we can argue and then both not change our minds?Tom14 wrote:Tell me pl;ayers in the Premier League that you think are better than him as Defensive Midfielders and we will go through it all.
Alonso - a lot better at passing the ball, but when it comes to defending and anchoring a midfield, he has never been trusted with that role in his entire career.Lethal wrote:here are some midfielders i would prefer to denilson

and thats off the top of my head
good engine yes, average passer, average tacker and weak
Mascherano - cannot argue, best in the World
Essien - Again, cannot argue. He is top top class, but not a player you wan't anchoring a midfield to be honest.
Mikel - Denilson has better stats and performances than Mikel. There is no way that I would consider swapping them.
Carrick - Much like Alonso, he is a player who pretty much passes the ball and plays within a system that prevents him needing to defend. Arsenal always have one defined DCM, and Carrick is not one of those.
Fletcher - I am sorry, but he is not in Denilson's class. He is a workmanlike midfielder, but he has not got the positional sense or pure defensive ability that we have seen from Denilson.
Scholes - This is a joke? A defensive midfielder? Top quality four years ago, United could sell him right now.
Anderson - Nope, he has been utterly average for Man Utd this season (whenever he has been given the chance to play) and has been transformed from a top quality young attacking midfielder to a Flamini-like bull, without the results.
Barry - For England, he does a decent job as a DCM, but for Aston Villa, he is their attacking midfielder. He would run Denilson close to be honest, and I would have no real problems swapping them, but given their respective ages, Denilson would clearly be the better option.
Palacios - Much more like Flamini than Denilson or Gilberto, but he has not got the same tackling success rates or the interception rates of Denilson.
Of course there are options, if you did the same for the best center backs, wingers and strikers, there would be options. But it is not like Denilson is in the bottom 10 of Premier League Defensive Midfielders. He would be in the top 5 for me.

im speechless...

I ahve already accepted that people see him as some sort of Cesc mk II that was scheduled to replace him in a few years when he leaves for Barca, some people refuse to change that view.
And the Essien comment was not a negative. I would run naked carrying Denilson to the Bridge if we got Essien, he is that good, but you would not compare the roles he does for Chelsea with that of Denilson.

That's a joke, Denilson was shit most of the time, everyone here feel like that including me. Even though I accept that you think he is a good defensive midfielder, he is no way in the top class. He can't tackle, pass simple balls, slow in speed, or etc...Having said that he has improved a bit in this season. But still he shouldn't be our regular players
