As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

mate, going to english pubs (and specially the ones filled with gooners) is something i've been dying to do for over a decade. as i said before, my time in london will be the following: hostel - pub - grove - pub - hostel - pub - hostel - pub - pub - pub - grove - pub - hostel
Some great posts on here - especially from eDub, Brazilian Gooner and Kiwi.
I've had a similar experience regarding my birth place. As most of you know, I was born in Sicily but my family moved over to England when I was 3 years old and I've lived here ever since. I consider this to be my country as it's the only thing I've known. Unlike other members of my family, I support England and Britain in all sporting events - even against Italy.
As I've said to many people before during arguments about nationality, and I think it also applies to football: I didn't get a choice as to where I was born/brought up, but I do get one in regards to who I give my allegiance to.
And I guess I was really lucky because when we moved to England, it was to a place in Finsbury Park - thus making Arsenal my local team!!!
I always try and get to the home games where and when I can, even though it's a bloody rip off these days. Last United fixture I went to was against City at home, in the league cup.
What do you make of the "arm chair" fan who watches every game on tv but has never been to see his team play? Are they "real" supporters in your eyes?
Are you talking of English/British fans? or fans in general? I'm a Kiwi, so travel costs are somewhat prohibitive. Does that make me any less of a fan? I have been lucky enough to get to Highbury several times, that just shows how long it's been since I've seen The Arsenal play(live), does that make me any less of a fan? Not everyone is fortunate enough to live within reasonable travelling distances to the ground, does that make them any less of a fan? You don't know how lucky you are!!!!!!!!
I think it's silly trying to assess "true supporters".
It's even sillier that a M'Donald's united fan has proposed it.
In fact, that's a definition of irony (look it up, monostitch).
Whether you became an Arsenal five days ago or 50 years ago, it doesn't really mattter in my book.
You're obviously a person of intellect, taste and wisdom.

I go to 90% of the home games but can't blame anyone that rather watch it on the telly. The club has clearly shown they rather fill the stadium with cooperate people and that us fans watch it on the telly, people tend to forget that the money Arsenal get from broadcasters all over the world is as important as "bum's on seats" at the Grove.
If I had the strenght and didn't know somebody else would be there to pick up my ticket if I don't go I'd save my money, watch home games on the telly, go to more away games and make trips to places like Marsielle and Dortmund once a month, where you can watch live football the way it should be watched...

Good points Jake.
We are bringing up a generation of supporters who will have no interest in being in the ground early, standing for a game and are more interested in taking a photo than celebrating a goal with the person next to them.
