Official World Cup Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Keeping an eye on North Korea. If things flair up politically they might even have to withdraw.

England were average once more, a scoreline widely predictedbefore the game as we got the goals at the right time (with Crouch netting again!) but couldn't keep a clean sheet and looked shaky against inferior opposition.
This has happened whoever has been in the defence, I know we score plenty of goals too much better teams will punish us for sloppy defending at the WC and won't let us back in it at the other end.

Australia narrowly managed to beat New Zealand last night.

2-1 was the final score, with Brett Holman (who I'm sure you've all seen play against us with AZ Alkmaar) scored the winner with what turned out to be the last kick of the match.

Tim Cahill (Everton) and Vince Grella (Blackburn) were both lucky not be sent off for some hard tackles in the first half - Grella should definitely have been off!

Watch that video from about 1:20 onwards to see Grella's challenge first and Cahill's right after. At 3:20 you can see what the guy's leg looks like. (Same 'victim' in both tackles)

What do you guys think?

journalist: What did u think when you saw Gallas crashing during the buggy race?
Domenech: what a *word censored* .. at first we were angry, but then he made everybody laugh. We needed it to relax.
Anelka: It was great this buggy race. And it happens often to William ...

That Grella tackle was straight out of the Allardyce school of thuggery.

Mind you, we really need a player like Grella.
