Cesc in Barca shirt!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

They Just won the world cup, they're all happy (and probably had a drink!) and his mates are larking around with a Barca shirt.... big deal!

They are just a bunch of lads in their 20s - people shouldn't take their every action so seriously. It's banter. Cheeky yes, but not worth getting upset about.
I'd agree 100% - the problem is recent history has many Gooners very insecure about Arsenal's desire to put the best team on the pitch and keep its best players - and that holds true even if my doubts about the Board's ambition are invalid.

The Board has a serious PR problem in its desire to remain secretive about its ambitions and how it seeks to ahcieve them and how all these decision since 2005 realte to this. At the very least the Board's siilence leaves room for confusion uncertainty and doubt. And that silence combined with the actions that speak far louder than the words they have spoken do has everyone very worried, and this is why some more complete or candid answers might benefit the Board. as well as the supporters
Is this a joke? Because i truly believe that no one would be that stupid to bring up a dicussion about the board on a topic like this.

Please tell me that you're trollin' and that you don't honestly mean to turn this into a debate about the board.

But given the above I don’t think it’s too much to want him to have said at some point, in private, to his Barca mates that as much as he clearly wants to join them he wants to do it the right way & asked them to cut out this sort of shit & leave the clubs to make it happen, or not. If they’re all as close as they claim/seem to be then he shouldn’t have had a problem saying it & they shouldn’t have had a problem respecting his wish.
But how do you know that he hasn't asked them to calm it down a bit??? and how do you know they'd listen??

We don't know anything. The Barca boys may like Cesc, but if they want to talk to the press and lark about on stage with a Barca shirt then that's that. Cesc may not be encouraging it, but he's hardly going to make a big thing of it either is he! - they're his world cup team mates, and taking on the Barca dressing room his hardly a good move when you're trying to break into the team, is it. He's probably been sucking up big time to Xavi, Iniesta and co. all month!
Exactly we don't know anything but recent history which suggests we have every reason to be insecure about keeping him because of yes the Board's recent actions since 2005 with the club's finances and players.

The Board could me it crystal clear he's not for sale but they haven't done that clearly before this even.

Like I say this may be nothing more than a prank and some overexuberance from the Spanish lads, and you may well be right that Gooners are overreacting but in the context of recent history it will appear much worse as long as we continue the current policies put in place by the Board without the Board adequately explaining them at some point soon.
Just out of interest, how long have you been an Arsenal follower for?

Pissed off???? :? He won the world cup yesterday!!

Winning the world cup must be a truly amazing feeling, and I'm sure he's so deliriously happy at the moment that I doubt very much he even cares about something as utterly trivial as a mate forcing a Barca shirt over his head whilst larking about!!
SOOOO..Why dont Those *word censored* concentrate on SPAIN??

Actually you don’t get it at all BG because what I have actually said is I’d simply like to see whoever runs Arsenal including the current Board show more ambition in terms of investing in the football team. Earlier someone reduced my views to hating the Board – again not true as you have to know someone to hate them. I do hate what they are doing – but that’s because I know what they are doing or at least strongly appear to be doing.

The simple truth is as I said again tonight and have said before I would support the current Board fully if they showed further ambition for the football team than they have been since 2005. After all without the current Board showing that further ambition Arsene Wenger could not have done what he did from 1998-2005 at Arsenal Football Club. The truth is I am not simply against this Board no matter what.

As to your tit thread comment I believe you already have your answer if you look about and seriously its not what you suggested above although that was funny!

Yes I push my views hard, and yes there’s a reason. And that is the reality is none of can be sure that we won’t end up wondering 50 years from now how we haven’t won the League since 2004 sort of like our nastier neighbors. Yes the fact that s***s are simply *word censored* supported by a large number of troglodyte types figures into it a lot. But the point stands if we don’t show more ambition soon who knows if we aren’t looking at another 10, 20, or God Forbid 50 year stay in the wilderness. And given the strong position we’d reached by 2005 to go through a period like that simply because of business decisions trumping football ambition should infuriate any every Gooner who loves Arsenal.

Forget s***s I live a couple of hours from Boston where even now Red Sox fans won’t forgive Harry Frazee for selling Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees in 1918 and blame the Curse of the Bambino on Boston not winning another World Series after that for 86 years. And he was sold purely for profit as well and that profit was sunk into a Broadway musical that flopped.

2004 seems fairly fresh to me still. Time flies like that. So if we don’t fix things soon it will be 15 and 25 and maybe 50 barren years before we know it if we aren’t a bit more ambitious. We’re a big enough club it should never be that long but as I hear all the time nothing guarantees winning trophies. But even bearing that in mind should we be happy to go back to winning the League once every two decades so rich men can get richer when we have seen an ambitious Board can help put together three Premiership titles at least in eight years without bleeding the club dry to do it.

i do understand your point mate, and sincerely it makes sense. i disagree with your views, but i understand and respect them. however, i feel that you keep pushing the same button no matter what issue is brought up, and that's what frustrates me, g88ner and i'm sure a couple of others.

and about the tits thread, it was a joke!

I'm glad you understand Brazil and I understand your view too, but so long as these threads are occurring because of the Board's policies its fair to introduce that when its apporpraite. :barscarf:

He thanks Arsene and everyone involved with Arsenal to get him to where he is today. It might not calm everyone down from the scenes we saw this evening but it was a nice read! :-P
"This is for the Arsenal players, the Arsenal fans, the manager Arsene Wenger and all the staff.

"I am really proud to have been an Arsenal player.

"It is for all of them.
Not much of a good read orelse his english is suffering from being around spanish people or thesun are being cheeky.
