Whether we like it or not, the club doesn’t want people ‘opting out’. It creates more work for them, and renders the selling of a season ticket pointless (in their eyes), as it’s supposed to be a means by which they can take the money up front and not have to worry about it for another year. They get the money and can relax for another twelve months, and the fan knows he’s secured tickets for each of the games.
If a publisher’s magazine subscribers started calling up in February saying that they want to ‘opt out’ of the March, July and October issues, then it defeats the point of what they were trying to achieve in the first place: a ‘done job’ which needn’t be addressed for another year.
If the club is going to have to deal with ongoing ticketing situations like this, then they may as well just scrap the season ticket, as they'd ultimately end up with two workloads.
Just my penneth worth.

This is fine for league games but it's cup games were talking about.Bring Back Pires wrote:Whether we like it or not, the club doesn’t want people ‘opting out’. No-one opting out of league fixtures....although TX helps for those that want to/need to.
It's not more work and each game goes on sell anyway whether it be a Silver or red membership. So it's no more work then they already do.
Its the same system that they will have to operate should we beat Orient & ManU in the cup and/or Barca.
Also if the 7 games aren't meet then a credit is placed against the renewal of next years ST.

But I'm talking financially too. An extra seven games' worth of season ticket cash, up front, would be very important to the club. Not only is it guaranteed cash/ticket sales, it also saves them having to try selling 55,000 seats in conditions when they only have 8-9 days to make sales (such as the current period for the Leyton Orient game).Boomer wrote:This is fine for league games but it's cup games were talking about.Bring Back Pires wrote:Whether we like it or not, the club doesn’t want people ‘opting out’. The club knows where they stand if they've got that cash up front, and can make preparations for it over the coming year (what those are is anybody's guess). If people started opting out and claiming back their money, and the ticket(s) then goes unsold, the club could be left in all sorts of financial difficulties, if it happened on a grand scale.

I know the reason why the club does it but from a fans perspective it’s wrong.Bring Back Pires wrote:But I'm talking financially too. Opting out doesn't mean you get your money back as you haven't paid for it in the first place.
The club obviously wants the money up front but in the later rounds (after cup 8 ) we don't pay for the matches until the renewal which is June!!!

I think the club would be better off (financially as well) ensuring bums are actually on the seats.
How many times do we see the attendance of 59/60K when we know its nearer 55?! That's because many ST holders haven't bothered.
If fans in the cup games were able to choose the game then the club could fill the ground plus with a full house will reap more via catering and merchandise.
Very little change of selling your ticket on the exchange because there would not be enough time for the game to sell out.Zippy wrote:Ticket Exchange?colscat wrote:season ticket holders dont have a chance to opt, out so when it gets anounced that there is 60,000 at the game even though there are loads of empty seats that is the reason and everyone will get charged next year
All the general sale seats will have to be shifted before the ticket exchange would start, unlikely to happen.
Oh well. All us hard done by season ticket holders will just have to go thru the hassle of another evening out watching 90 minutes of beautiful stuff at home again then.1886 wrote:Very little change of selling your ticket on the exchange because there would not be enough time for the game to sell out.Zippy wrote:Ticket Exchange?colscat wrote:season ticket holders dont have a chance to opt, out so when it gets anounced that there is 60,000 at the game even though there are loads of empty seats that is the reason and everyone will get charged next year
