I don't want him out, I was just making the point that he was unknown before he came to us.

If he did leave my shortlist would be (inorder): Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp, Guus Hiddink, Owen Coyle.

No direct accusation intended, sorry if it came accross that way...

A good shortlist but not sure if anyone other than Coyle would be realistic, I also would like AW to stay but I'm not sure how long he can continue with this 'philosophy' unfortunately...

There are a lot of people who believe Guardiola will be our next manager.

Firstly we are The Arsenal. Secondly Arsene is the second highest paid manager in the world and with the money we'll have I'm sure we'll be able to attract pretty much anyone.

If you just want a manager on a big pay packet. I think if you want amnanger who wants to woin you're going to have to do more than offer big money to him, and since right now that seems an impossibility given our current financial policy I think landing a Guardiola or just about anybody of his ilk is going to be a tiny bit more difficult.

"Lemme see..Should I leave a multi-time La Liga Champion and Champions League Winner and a club that has a brillinat youth development program as well as the ambition to get me the players I want and need now to make it all work for team that hasn't won anything since it cut back spending, has a youth system that is hit-and-miss at best though it has some very decent hits, and refuses to invest in the players I want and need now because it's Board says winning trophies in not important ofr the club. Let me think this one over..."

Guardiola is unreasonable unless he leaves Barcelona in the near future. Unlikely however, he's done well with them and is now their 4th longest serving manager I believe? (Just goes to show you how those glory-hunters use people up quickly!)

Hiddink is just getting started with his new project, Turkey, and club football doesn't really appear to be his bag anymore. He could have easily stayed on with Chelsea, but he clearly made a choice not to.

Klopp has done fantastic with Borussia Dortmund this season but I'm not sure what kind of sustained results he could get. Although if he brought over his two brilliant centre backs I would be ecstatic.

Coyle is a good manager, but I don't know how he'd do managing a big money, big market, big expectations type of team. He seems better suited for improving teams, not building them.

Were Wenger replaced in the near future, I believe that a relatively unknown manager would be brought in. I don't think the board (yeah yeah I know) would be interested in a big name manager who's going to make abrupt, immediate wholesale changes.

I think the worry with somebody like Coyle is that we could end up with another Bruce Rioch...

100% exactafuckingcorrect. Coyle is like Fat Sam - knows how to get a small club promoted or keep them up on a budget. The aspirations of the club are not above his abilities. I'd be VERY surprised if Coyle didn't fail miserably at Arsenal. It's a totally different type of management, with FAR higher levels of pressure dictated by the media and fans.

Not so sure this is true anymore my vertically challenged friend...........we hear wenger constantly say that finishing top 4 is equivilent of winning a trophy and we see little or no signs of the ambition to lift us onto the next level from either wenger or the board so is the same level of ambition still in the club ?

Point taken my folically challenged mate!

But I think you are confusing Wenger's stubborn refusal to alter from his path (the project) with a lack of ambition on his part. I don't buy that. Wenger is massively ambitious, but it has to be his way or no way. He uses the "4th is a result" rubbish as a sound bite to cover his single mindedness and stubbornness. It's too easy to say Wenger is not ambitious. His real problem is his raging ego and refusal to believe he could get it wrong.

The board are another matter...

We wont sign proven stars or pay big money for any players.

Then why does that *word censored* have a contract worth 115k a wee? the 2nd highest paid manager in the world???

If he felt that strong about his fucking principles than he wouldn’t have such a ludicrous contract!!!

We should of singed some players, its as clear as that.

I wasn’t to be proven wrong but I know that come may we wont of won anything and it all starts again with that *word censored* in charge still

I do not disagree with one word of what you just said DB but regardless of the reasons it still doesnt distract away from the fact that for the board (and seemingly for a lot of fans too  ) finishing in the top 4 is deemed an acceptable return  :x Could coyle or david moyes finish in the top 4 with this squad ? I believe they would but the difference is that after fighting in the trenches for so long they would be far more willing to do what is necessary with this squad to lift the club higher. When you add that to the fact that due to past glories wenger has got comfortable with where we now stand and has been allowed to remain that way by the board then I personally dont see a huge risk in appointing someone like moyes or coyle cos I would rather fall short trying to improve than by standing still :(

Yes but aslong as that *word censored* gets us in the top 4 the board will carry on sucking out his old arse!

We have no ambition and that is fact!

We are riding our luck and now the luck is over.

Good fortune will only take you so far before the weak squad will get injurys.

Now its time for TR, Barry, Cham and Denilson to get more games

yet again i am proved right regarding Wenger and regarding not signing anyone new players.

We will not win anything ever with that old wanker in charge

Guardiola will be leaving Barca shortly, he only recently signed a one year extension when he was set on leaving. His leaving Barca will possibly coincide with Wenger leaving Arsenal. I've said it before and still think there is a very good chance he'll be our next manager.
It's hard to see Arsenal winning a trophy this season now. FA cup and CL are unlikely and so s the league if RVP is out for a while because the quality of strikers at Arsenal other than RVP are VERY poor. Our CB's are always suspect against tall forwards and central midfield still has no defensive players, Song is not a defensive midfielder and gives the ball away far too much.

hmmm... good point RE the comfort zone. Have to agree that the board have allowed him to live in that comfort zone for far too long. But I think their inability to act (sack Wenger or move him upstairs) is as much dictated by fear of the unknown (new manager) as it is by greed etc. Remember we don't have Dein on that board anymore and if Dein demonstrated one thing it was his ability to take a risk on an unknown manager like Arsene.

Of course we have no way of knowing for sure if coyle or similar would fail or succeed but I just feel it takes a real Alpha personality to run a big club and win trophies at same. Ferguscum, Wenger, GG, Moron-hio are all Alphas and do/did things their way, don't suffer criticism lightly and ultimately win things. Maybe Wenger is TOO MUCH of an Alpha and cannot see past his own ideas.
