'Doing The 92' Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

I've seen Arsenal play at 47 of the 92, plus another 5 where they weren't - so 52 in total. And I do include friendlies....and also grounds which have now been replaced by newer stadia. Don't see why I can't claim to have visited Middlesbrough, just because it was at Ayresome Park and not the Riverside, ditto Cardiff, Millwall, Stoke etc....!

And I've also seen us play at Grimsby, Wrexham, Luton & Hereford....all now plying their trade in the Conference.
I don't know why anybody would want to visit Middlesbrough, Millwall or Stoke more than once. And although naturally I would never have a bad word to say about Cardiff it must surely be one of the worst away trips?
My two visits to Millwall were both in the home end with a mate who supported them... Think one was a last minute winner and the other was a win on pens. Still terrifying though as you could see that any threats were totally genuine  !

And my one trip to Ninian Park was a 2-1 win away in the cup (can't recall whether FA or League Cup). Seem to recall "saving" a Cardiff fan from a beating from Gooners on the way back i.e. talking them out of it..... I'm sure they had good reason, but this guy was ok. Yes, it was a rough place.

'Boro was always a good trip. Some friendly pubs near the station, once you escaped their welcome committee....

Did both old and new Den.

Old one was the day when the ref Ellerey ? was miked up and big tone called him a fooking cheat for not allowing a goal that was clearly over the line (we still won 2-1) and Rocky collapsed just prior to half time - got stetchered off, with complete hush from the assembled Gooners, fearing he was seriously injured, yet he galloped back on for the 2nd half :barscarf:

New Den was the cup match, last minute winner ( which went down well) and me and my 3 mates had to go it alone away from the police escort back to the tube as we drove down and had parked at the old den - seriously scary

Guess I must have done Old and New Den then as well... !

Think the cup game must have been the one where Ian Wright was getting threats galore leading up to it and I honestly thought it would be better for all if he just ducked out. Couldn't believe the bottle of the guy to play...!

This Saturday Brighton are playing Bognor at home. Only £10 to watch their reserves in the Sussex senior cup.

Also on sat at the Madejski in Reading is an Army vs 'celebs', £12 to get in. As it's a friendly then it won't count to the 92. I just count friendlies anyway, stuff the 92 club restrictions.

Did anyone go to Brighton or Reading?

I went to Brighton, nice ground. Very easy to get to as Falmer station adjacent, can be a lot trouble getting away from train station after league games apparently.

Stewards were over the top, only 2,400 odd in the ground, and a guy at the back of lower tier told to sit down or else. No one near him and empty seats above. Who is he getting in the way of? Siddahn!

I thought both Brighton & Reading were a ballache to get to. Way out of town, standing in a queue for an hour at Brighton station to get that train to Falmer was taking the piss. They gotta sort that out...

I prefer this website to the footballgrounds.eu;

http://www.footballgroundmap.com/

Accepts friendlies for doing grounds and also shows local league grounds as well.

On footballgrounds.eu - my totals are 53 of the 92 and 87 in total - on footballground guide 65 and 121, far superior, imo.

I was at the game when Ellerey was miked up. I was in the Millwall end as my mate was in their youth team and got me a couple of free tickets.
Told him afterwards that I'll pay for one in the Away end next time.
