Cesc knows signing for any of those sides will fuck his dream of playing for barca permanently because none of those teams would ever have to sell or be tempted by big money as it's peanuts to them all.
That's why barca know they can get away with pisstake offers as they're the only possible destination.
See your point 100% but we have a bargaining card as well.
Contract til 2015.
Ultimatum to Cesc ( and Barca ) - Bidding has started now, Real, Citeh, Inter, everyone invited.
If the minimum price of £55m is not reached by 15th June 2011 ( one week from now ) then Cesc will be put back in his box and placed on a shelf where he will rot until he leaves for free in the summer of 2015.
Good Luck to anyone who fancies investing in a footballer that hasn't played at any level for 4 years.

I would agree with most of this - cesc wants to go and to be fair to him I dont think he owes us anything so we should let him go but at the same time he has to realise that we do not owe him his dream move to barca so if he wants to go then he has to be willing to go to the club that makes the best offer. I too would set a dealine for any such transfer negotiations to be concluded (july 1st would be more realistic as european transfer window opens then) and if no deal has been agreed then cesc must stay for next season.
My gripe over this whole scenario is that cesc and barca both see it as their destiny to be reunited again and expect us to roll over and allow it to happen. Barca have got to realise that if we are going to sell our captain then it will be for a sum reflecting cesc's undoubted talent and if they continue to bid cheap on the assumption that cesc can force through a deal to his home town club then they will not see cesc sign for them until his contract expires in 2015. In my opinion wenger should be approaching cesc now and telling him to let his catalan buddies know that he will only be sold to them if they are the highest bidder and let cesc do the legwork then. I really believe that the barca whores are basically hanging cesc out to dry by telling him how much they want him, unsettling him at our club, turning some of our fans against him and then taking the piss with derisory bids Cesc has to wake up and see their bids as the insult they are and if he still wants to leave our club then he has to be willing to sign for inter or whoever

your gripe is my fear.
we now seem to have a track record of caving in to pressure when it comes to selling players,i can just see the twats in charge sitting down and sympathising that poor old cesc wants to go to barca and as theyve spent all their cash having to actually pay the going rate from other clubs with a spine,we should help them out and let the poor darling name his own price as thats all they've got left.IF YOU FUCKING WANT CESC SO BAD THAN BUY HIM BEFORE YOU SPLASH OUT ON VILLA AND CO.
its like spending all your money on pork scratchings then realising you havent got enough left to buy a pint and asking the barman to give it to you for 20p cos you're thirsty.
we (reportedly) turned down £50m for chavski for th14 before selling for £16m 12 months later. see vieira for further proof
Cesc is not leaving this year! It is time to concentrate on Nasri staying and adding Santi and a few others to the team so we can challenge for the full season, not just 3/4 of it. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/s ... =sc_t2_a10
Can't believe anyone could put Cesc' contribution or achievements at Arsenal ahead of Ian Wright. His goals won us trophies when we didn't have Anelka, Bergkamp or a few other players.
When the history books are written Ian Wright will always be an Arsenal legend, Cesc Fabregas, if he leaves in the summer will never ever be that, he is a current hero in a team that has achieved nothing, and were he not there then someone else would be given that mantle.
Ask a teenager this question in 25 years time
Ian Wright ? = LEGEND
Cesc Fabregas? = WHO???????
Now fuck off to your beloved Barca, we owe each other nothing.

To be fair Sid, most of this generation will answer "Ian who?" in 25 years time!

Whether Cesc sells for 37 mill or 60 mill won't make any sort of difference to the team if our stingy transfer policy remains the same... the money won't be reinvested in finding a quality replacement since we will be searching the 'bargain bins' or the supposed 'future world beaters' as usual. The money would just be used to line the pockets of the higher ups and pay the wages of the deadwood holding our club down. I'm afraid we just won't see a difference whatever sum we get.
I'm also very tired of everyone thinking that Cesc and Barca are destined to be and therefore they can pay a ridiculously lower amount than what other teams would usually have to fork out for him. Hey, I feel like I am destined to drive a Ferrari so I'm going to head over to a dealer and for that reason I expect him to sell me one at an unreasonably discounted price! It's just meant to be!

Cesc Fabregas is one of the most gifted players we've ever had...and while he may not have a load of trophies to his name, he deserves more recognition than what you're saying. The teenager anology is a bad one, but in the future if you speak to anyone that knows their football, they will remember Fabregas fondly.
Let's see how he behaves this transfer window before we decide how fondly we remember him!
If last summer and jaunts to F1 on the last day of the season are anything to go by then I think he will tarnish his memory significantly!

I am not questioning his talents, but I doubt whether he has given us any where near as many memories (trophies or not) as Wrighty has.
As for the teenager analogy, I am talking about those who will not have seen either players play and are relying on books and archive footage for reference. And that's where Wright will be legendary where Cesc will be a bit part in a piece of footage (if even that - as who will watch footage of failure?)
As for remembering him fondly, Cesc has never shown the passion or love of the club that Wrighty had and still displays today. And I think Percy's comments are a perfect example of that.
I have nothing against Cesc, but he will be very quickly forgotten when he goes (atleast, he will by me)

Seriously sid ?? Ian wright play in a team that didnt concede goals....period. We all knew that if he scored 1 or 2 goals in a game in more often earned us 3pts but put him in a team with a defence like we currently have and see how many trophies he would win. The trophies ian wright were won largely on the back of that defence and I doubt if you would disagree with that either. While we are on the subject of wrighty's medals how many did he win exactly ? I would say to you that the answer is only 3 prior to the 98 double winning side of which he was largely 3rd choice behind Bergkamp and anelka and of those 3 I seem to remember that des walker had him largely in his pocket in those sheffield wed games and of course he was suspended for the parma cup final.
I dont want to seem here that I am knocking wrighty as such but I do feel sometimes strikers goals mean a player is held in higher esteem than players further back in the team who contribute far more (maybe I feel that way as a former defender). I was a wrighty fan and had his name on my bruised banana shirt when I was younger so it isnt as if I didnt value the guy but in contrast to whay you and percy suggested about the age thing, I would suggest that as you get older you realise that being the top goalscorer does not necessarily make you the best player
