US MARTINS BOARD THREAD

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

He's a gooner with passion. If he didnt go nuts posting on every thread on the same topic he'd be a valued member.

Its the fact he only post on that subject is what highlights him. And makes him look a bit like a WUM.

I think the better thing to have done would be to give him a warning that if he didnt stop hijacking threads with the same subject matter he'd be banned.
Wouldnt that be a bit more fair, rather than kind of hanging the guy in the stocks for apples to be thrown at him.
But that is the problem Bren. He has been asked. He has been warned. On numerous occasions.

WUMing and trolling are not limited to just acting the bollocks to wind people up (Iceman etc).

It is also excessively posting in a style that negatively impacts on forum members' enjoyment of the forum and/or negatively impacts on the day to day operations of the forum. Unfortunately Marty ticks both boxes.

Just because someone loves the Arsenal does not mean they are not a troll or don't display troll like traits. I'm sure in Iceman's limited little world of Wenger worship he too probably loved the Arsenal but he came on here exclusively to troll the place. And we banned his sorry ass.

The two (trolling and loving The Arsenal) are not always mutually exclusive unfortunately.

I gave Marty the benefit of the doubt for a long time and tried to help him but in the end it was pointless. He cannot change and if he cannot change then I am for banning him for the greater good of the forum. Let's be honest, the place has gone downhill because of his thread hijacking and massive repetative posts on numerous threads.

People don't complain just for the sake of it (even augie and sid! ) they complain when something is ruining their enjoyment of the forum. Should we let one poster have such a huge negative impact? I say no.

But it isn't up to me. Mike has made a call on this one and there are certain things in place I cannot discuss. Martin's future on here is in his own hands.
I didn't complain, I just got irritated... then frustrated... then resigned to it, and finally stopped posting as much as my enjoyment of the forum had gone down hill massively. I was sick of US Martin dominating every serious discussion - and the constant arguments that always followed  (which is not all his fault)

I think he should be banned - and not because of his views (many on here dislike the board) but because of the manner in which he puts them across... REPEATEDLY! :banghead:

No chance.

He is just following his pattern, he'll be silent for a few days till the 'banning' heat has cooled down then start posting again never mentioning the board, slowly things will turn and he'll get into his normal discussions without mentioning the word 'board' then it will be blitzkreig again with insults and repetative bollocks flying around for a few days/weeks till banning is mentioned again and the pattern will re-start

oh yeah and i totally agree with g88ner above

You are one of the few that didn't. As said before the problem is not his point of view but rather the troll-like manner in which he repeatedly posts it across numerous threads.

I don't think we should ban him, I generally just ignored 90% of the board stuff as there is nothing new to say on either side.

I'd appreciate it, though, if Martin posted on other topics...

The problem is he doesnt post on other topics or if he does he starts off dicussing what the thread is about and then slowly but surely starts to mention the board and then hes off on one and the thread is then completely fucked and people start getting annoyed.

I remember 1 such time on a particular match thread (cant remember which game) we had just lost the game and people were obviously annoyed upset angry about the way we had lost and his 1st post on the match thread started to blame the board for us losing the game. Its stuff like that drove people mad with him me included. Its all very well people saying ignore his posts dont read them but b4 you know it hes quoting other posters then theres nothing but towers of quotes and posts and the thread becomes unreadable and any enjoyment has being gradually squeezed out of you.

Thats what annoyed alot of posters. If you didnt agree with his view all of a sudden you were wrong and the insults started flying whether you had expressed an opinion on the topic or not. I on numerous occasions told him i had never expressed or made known my feelings on the board because tbh i had no interest in the board only what happened on the pitch, and then was accused of not caring about the club,a club that i have been following for 34 years by a guy who in my opinion was a JCL.

So i will be quite honest and open and say im delighted hes not posting on here whether thats( because hes been banned or hes just decided to lay low for a while), its now once again for me becoming enjoyable on the forum once again.

Irrelevant whether USMartin is a fan or not.
The way he posts is often that of a troll.
Only USMartin can tell you why he posts how he does.

If you get into a discussion with him, he often misquotes you, or straight up puts words in your mouth.

He will also mention your name on other posts and attribute things to you that you did not say.

He also has a habit of spinning a discussion round in circles, instead of progressing to a conclusion.

He also questions the integrity of people, just because they do not agree with his views on the Arsenal Board (2005 - 2011).

I was in favour of banning him, as he was, to paraphrase Charlie Murphy talking about the late Rick James, "A habitual line stepper".

But this thread is a better option, if USMartin sticks to it, gives USMartin a chance to change his ways.

Myself and Augie used to clash on the board, but it never got personal.
Myself and Cockerill's Chin had intense arguments on the Middle East, but it never got personal.

USMartin should take note of that.

For someone who I respect on this forum, and has gone at it far more intensely with martin than most quartz i agree 100% with this post.

US actually pm'd me on the subject of this thread, my advise to us was basically to chill. Im not two faced and told us in my pm that he needed to stop the constant, repeated, and long posts/threads on the same subject. Also to contribute more on the other subjects, oh and to stop the petty name calling, and basically hi-jacking threads. Which in my opinion is the only rule he has broken (as it could be compared to trolling).

I have to be honest, Im probably less agrivated by us than most because i honestly dont read 95% of his posts. If its a thread i wont bother, and if its a post i read until he mentions "2005/06, the board, highbury square, you all get the point", Then i ignore. If the thread get taken over by a board debate with him, i just ignore that thead or the posts. I have noticed the name calling and basic argument starting on inapropriate threads, which is pathetic, and needs to go.

Now that its kind of official he's on a last warning lets see if it changes him. Id get rid of this thread, and if he hi-jacks another thread, then ban him.

Now US I know you may dispute what hijacking a thread is, but you know what your doing. Give it up, get on, and just join in the spirit of the place.

Now of course boys and girls this does not apply if you wish to start or hijack a thread with some good old fashoned anti Wengerist bile ,then you can post as often as you feel the need to !

Complaning about Wenger in a match thread where we have shipped a lead again cant be compared to banging on about the board in a thread like the invincibles thread

Tenang! Anda bodoh! Tiada sucky untuk anda! Lelaki wanita pemandu bas! :D

It all just goes over your head doesn't it, Hakim?

Just for you;

Martin hijacks numerous threads with huge 10000 word posts basically repeating the same thing over and over. Totally different to posting smaller posts or interupting a thread with a gag or two. That - most people can tolerate, and this forum is known for its random nature.

Now if someone was hijacking multiple threads with massive 10000 word anti Wengerist bile that was constantly repetative then that too would be a problem. Do you see? Is that clear enough?
