As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
You guys have no clue how much Arsene is spoiling you ungrateful bastards.
As great as Gilberto was in his prime with us, that last season he spent with us he was reduced to a shambolic, stumbling-around, pale imitation of himself to be fair... quite a bit like Alex Song is now really...
To be fair, Alex Song has never even been that good!!
ROFL
I Hate Hleb took the words right out my mouth
Gilberto Silva on his worst day has forgotten more about playing as a holding midfielder than the briandead Alex Thong will ever learn
Oh how I laughed when I read one of the Arsenal kids saying they 'look up to Alex Song'
Reminds me of Ali Dia saying he looked up to Ade Akinbiyi....

Fabregas was a far better player than Silva, yet isn't considered a legend (according to the majority of posters answering that question on a thread back when he left).
Many stated that Fabregas could never be considered a legend because he didn't win anything of note with us. However, calling someone a legend solely because they HAVE won trophies (I'm assuming that's why many consider Silva a legend) is also a mistake.
Really, it's got nothing to do with trophies. It all comes down to raw talent, and sadly, Silva was lacking it in abundance. He seemed like a good guy - on and off the pitch - but ultimately a poor man's Edu.
So considering that the World cup winning and Brazil captain Gilberto Silva was rubbish apparently, do tell, what does this make Alex Thong? Considering that successive Cameroon coaches like Paul LeGuen and the current coach have all preferred and trusted the likes of Steve M'Bia and Jean Makoun to play the DCM role ahead of this clueless muppet!
On GS not being a Legend. You're narrowly confining the definition of a legend. The people saying 'Cesc will never be a legend' are just bitter. Fabregas was too good for Arsenal and that's why he is in that Barcelona squad.
Not one other player at Arsenal here and now would get anywhere near that Barca squad, no not even Van Persie. He can't play one touch quick enough to do that! (good as he is). Vermaelen might have but he is a crock so no.
Fabregas was a fabulous player and he is not in any way tarnished in my eyes. The person who needs to be questioned is the wnaker who surrounded him with crap - you could stick Messi with this shower and he'd win fuck all.
Gilberto Silva was vitally important to Arsenal imo and did a very very good job positionally. No, you never saw him recklessly bomb up the pitch. He was not a poor player, you do not captian Brazil when you are a poor player. Bollocks I don't buy that. Luzhny won trophies at Arsenal but will never be a legend, he was fucking shit.
Gilberto won trophies and is a legend because he was a major contributor to those trophies (he was one of the players who played the most minutes).
Mind you then again, many Arsenal fans had Manu Eboue as a Cult hero so perhaps I should just shut the hell up...

Babs - Bang on again! Ripping the AKB to shreds is par for the course for you. People don't like being told the truth.....
