Hi Antgelantgel wrote:I have to agree with this, it came up in a conversation I had today with a Man U fan (from London of course). We are shite, no doubt, but it's always possible that we could put a run together. Perhaps the signings will settle in, blah blah. I said I could see us finishing 5th-15th, but couldn't predict with more accuracy than that.A dallying Gus Caesar wrote:My two penneth?
I say there is no way that anyone can seriously come on this thread and feel confident about any prediction they wish to make. It is currently not possible to call any game in which we feature. We are the new coupon buster.
Therefore Saturday's outcome is a total mystery.
Only certainty is that Wenger is finished unless he was to get Dein back, and even then I think it is probably all too late now.
My dad has been making money betting against us for a couple of years now. He hates it but when you see some of the 'bargains' offered he just cannot refuse such value.
I worked out that if you bet against us in every league game for the last couple of years, over the season, you would have made a tidy profit. Funny thing is that we have been so poor that now the bookies are reducing the odds of our opponents.

Rarely are our encounters with Bolton straightforward affairs (are they against anyone these days ?) and with confidence being so fragile, I can see the 2-1 predictions with a few scrapes and scares being par for the course.
I don't subscribe to the view that "someone is about to get hammered by us" because our defending doesn't warrant that view. If hammering is 4 goal plus then we'd need to score 8+ to ensure we hammered someone. Davies always causes us problems and our defending up at the Reebok last year at set plays was truly awful - something they are bound to target. The truth of the matter is we can talk as bravely as we like about "togetherness and spirit" etc but the type of goals we concede are not an accident. I listened to Gibbs saying that "every mistake we make at the moment is punished" and that it gets "overlooked" when other teams make such mistakes.
Well Kieran my old son if that's what you truly believe then we really have got problems. Every mistake at the back certainly wasn't punished in the 1-0 home win over Swansea, nor the 1-1 in Dortmund, and unbelievably even the 8-2 at United ! There has been some rank bad defending in those games left unpunished.
The fact of the matter is with Vermaelen out, I don't have confidence in any of our centre halves, and the man we should have there is playing for the opposition and will sign a pre-contract deal with a higher wage payer in January.
Us to win......just. Palpatations from every defensive corner and free kick - you bet !

I know it's against a League 2 team etc etc but the ability he's got is obvious.
Best player at OT and when he came off we totally collapsed.
Far more passion than that fucking gimp Song.
