Diarra was shocking in the second half!

Fucking good three points though so job done!

No doubt we were lucky, but you have to be lucky to win the league

I said we were pants last week, but that was a great performance (with exceptions). We were like silk crotchless knickers for most of hte first half, but like my pants after a good night out in the second half, loads of skidmarks but we held everything in

BTW Eboue is one the biggest cnuts on the planet and needs to go. My brother in law reckons he's arsene's special friend.

I think we had mental "strengs" today.

I agree you need the luck and thank god we got it tonight!

Just glad the first performance was good enough to see us through it!

What did we pay for Sagna?

Whatever it was it is looking like a snip as remember it wasn't a huge amount!

He is the nuts as far as I am concerned!

£6 mil. Definitely looking like a bargain.

This is one of those games that (hate to sound chlice, but...) we would have lost last season, so it's good to see us come out on the other side with three points. Remember, this is a very good Villa side and I don't remember Almunia having to make too many saves.

Second half was very, very nervy, but I think that on the strength of the first half performance, we just about merited our win. Well played boys!

Our midfield went to shit when we took off rosicky who along with hleb are our ball specialists in midfield and with both of them gone we took to humping it back to villa every time we had the ball. For a big useless *word censored* that carew always causes us trouble and I thought tonight was the same. Its that old chesnut that in toure & gallas we have 2 good centre backs but neither are strong enough in the air.

Just before villa scored almunia had another on of those where the fcuk is he going moments and if the chance had fallen to a better player we would have been behind earlier. I know he did well punching 1 or 2 dangerous crosses but fcul me I cannot warm to the man as I live in fear of the inevitable meltdown that will cost us big time

Credit to Gallas and Toure for repelling wave after wave of attack, too many of our players suddenly started performing badly after a good first half, Ade, Eboue, Flamini coming to mind which worried me, can we not cope without Hleb? Yes losing him was a real blow but I expected more from the team in the second half.

Full credit to Villa who pinned us back in the second half and gave us a real test but we got the three points instead of the one we perhaps deserved.

Since I only saw the MOTD highlights, I can't judge just how good we were in the first half and bad in the second, but I'm impressed that the side bounced back from a resounding midweek defeat and going down 1-0 away to an in-form opponent to win.

We all wondered how the team would deal with a defeat; now we know. And they did it without both Cesc and RvP (and with Almunia in goal). In terms of team spirit and determination, the result bodes very well for the rest of the season.

Let's hope they continue the good work with 6 points from the easier of the run of away games.
