And who was the manager for those games? The 8-2 defeat suddenly becomes important to you.Red Member wrote:North-Bank-1987 wrote:Personally I think Chesney has more passion and determination than any other player in the squad bar RVP, I know his distribution needs work but if you look at how many decent saves he has made recently, (the penalty and especially the second save against Kuyt - the first thing that comes to mind) I think we should be greatfull for his service rather than on his back. With regard to calling him an arrogant moron. Hes not a moron and his arrogance is a good sort of arrogance that I only really witnessed when he was taking the piss out of 5pur2. Would really like to see him in the sticks for a long time, I think theres more to come!
after his performance on Saturday do you still feel the same way?
and if there is much more of the same to come then we wont be winning anymore trophies regardless of who is manager. Chesney has been the goalkeeper for our record 8-2 league defeat, our record 4-0 Champions League defeat and has now conceeded a massive 47 league goals this season. Totally unacceptable
now that we have bought Podolski the main priority should be to buy an experienced goalkeeper.

Wenger has been the manager for the last 16 years
Chesney has let in more goals than any other Arsenal goalkeeper in that time - work out who is more to blame

Who is more to blame?
The manager who doesn't teach defense.
The manager who let his teams be lambs to slaughter and just sit back and watch the side get humiliated 8-2.
Conceeding 47 goals in a season is not just down to having a arrogant moron as a keeper you know.

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
Saw a stat the other day that said Szczesny has conceded the first shot on target in 13 games this season. Yeah, yeah stats and all that but his distribution continues to be dire and his mistakes are costing us points. Wouldn#t mind seeing a top class keeper coming in with Scez perfecting his trade as a number 2 for a bit.
Re: Return of the arrogant moron
Joe Hart, as good as he was, went on loan to perfect his Keeping. It gets you out of the glare of the spotlight, to be able to make the odd mistake here and there for a team mid table and it not cost them. Its what we should have done with him, with an experienced Keeper playing No.1 for 2 years

I know there are those on here that say we probably wont win anything under Wenger again.
well at the moment we wont win anything ever with our polish clown in goal.
if he costs us the 3rd place trophy on Sunday I will never forgive him

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
Red, you have been on here throughout the season highlighting Chesney's mistakes and how they have cost us important points, and in many cases you were right.
However, you did say that you would be watching him closely and that if there were any more slip-ups you would be in favour of the return of Almunia. Having seen Chesney subsequently screw up in very important games - 2nd goal vs Wigan, 1st goal vs Norwich - which have dropped crucial points, and also highlighted the fact he has let in 47 goals........when is it time for the return of Almunia ?
Would you play him in the game on Sunday instead ?

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
Red Member all season you have been excusing the 8-2 as a game that didnt matter and the Udinese game in which Szczesny saved a penalty was the game that counted. Now the 8-2 does matter.Make your effing mind up
94/95 Seaman let in 49 league goes behind a back four of Dixon Winterburn Adams and Keown. He was a shit keeper wasnt he?
Szczesny is a young keeper he will make mistakes.De Gea has made more mistakes that have cost goals than Szczesny has. What he needs is an experienced back up not two clowns who have had plenty of chances in goal for us

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
donaldo - you are correct. Thank you for reminding me of the irrelevance of the 8-2 defeat.
I suppose that makes Chesney not look too bad.
Steveo - for this final game yes I would be tempted to go for experience in Almunia or Fabianski who has done well in the few games he has played this season. The trouble is neither have played for so long they probably cant be risked.
the GK situation is a clear problem created by Wenger - see even I dont think he is perfect all the time.
it needs to be addressed this summer. We need to bin Almunia and Flappy and bring in an experienced keeper as competition for Chesney. this is my BIG IDEA for the summer rebuilding

Re: Return of the arrogant moron
Well, we have learned two things from this thread. Chesney ain't as good as Chesney thinks he is, but in fairness most of us knew that already. And Red Member knows the grand total of sweet fuck all about football.. but in fairness we ALL knew that already.
