No excuses,,, "Guardiola to leave barca
Re: No excuses,,, "Guardiola to leave barca
the main question for me is who decides which players barcelona buy? is ot pep or someone behind the scenes? no matter where he goes the one thing is sure is that he will not have the production line that their youth system has produce. and the purchasing of players is what makes a manager who he is.
Re: No excuses,,, "Guardiola to leave barca
clive tyldesly is talking rubbish besides two titles under benitez thats been their highest place for over thirty years. they have constantly been out of the running for the title. i wish commentators would get their facts right.Dan_85 wrote:Just watching Valencia-Atletico, on talking about the departure of the Valencia manager at the end of the season Clive Tyldesley says "they've finished 3rd for the last two years. That's not good enough for their fans."
Surely they should be ecstatic at so comfortably securing the 4th place trophy, no?!

so he lost against the russians and that makes him tactically inept. christ you couldn't make it up.Resident Plastic wrote:Everyone seems to have forgotten that he inherited the best team in world football. He was tactically inept the other night too, i really do not see why people assume he's a great manager.

A man who walks away at the first sign of pressure, I'd rather we didn't. Give me Mourinho any day of the week.

First sign of pressure? Yes, he has some of the best players in the world but the pressure he appears to be under every day of the week is incredible. From the club, fans and the press it seems that he is now responsible for what is seen as the "world's club". And he has a big pile of that Barcelona DNA (goonersid wrote:A man who walks away at the first sign of pressure, I'd rather we didn't. Give me Mourinho any day of the week.

It is almost already accepted that he should win 95% of every game. So, any slip is pounced on and magnified incredibly. An remember, he has had to take this team to super cup and world club cup trips, while trying to remain in every competition.

Anybody who characterises Guardiola's probable decision to step out of the game for a while as 'can't take the pressure' is, imo, misguided. There was a lot of talk here last year that he would take a sabbatical but that he was persuaded to stay another year. He has only ever signed one year contracts and has been quoted in the past as saying that managers should not stay at clubs too long. If he does go it'll be a well thought through decision, not 'running away'.
I don't think he is an 'inept' manager or 'lucky'. He has done brilliantly with a team that had underperformed for quite a while. However, like AW, he has stuck too rigidly to one tactic and has refused to adapt when teams learn to counter it effectively.
It's interesting that posters have championed Moyes but don't think we should consider Guardiola.
Our next manager needs experience of winning things, of Europe, of attracting and managing 'big' players and they are in short supply. We'd be daft not to consider him. He has talked of admiring Arsenal and I would love to see him join us.

I am not interested in where Pep decides to go on his holidays.
of more concern is that there is a potential vacancy at Barcelona.
Wenger is currently 3rd favourite to take the job apparently. Would he go do you think if he was offered it?
he would take RVP with him and get the opportunity to work with Cesc again, so a possibility I think.

Yes the Barcelona president has always said he wants to win the 4th place trophy.Red Member wrote:I am not interested in where Pep decides to go on his holidays.

apparently Wenger is one of 5 candidates to replace Guardiola.
This is what has been written about Wenger.
"He is a master of the transfer market… for finding hidden gems and then selling them for several times their initial value. He would be a pleasing choice for Barca’s book-keeping and would bring a focus on youth at Barcelona that may be required to shift out some of the aging players. He may get the best out of Cesc Fabregas and for Barca could be seen as the man who could also bring in Robin Van Persie to the Nou Camp.
Would Arsene Wenger turn down Barcelona if they came calling? I’m not so sure."
obviously there may be one or two people on here who might take issue with that description but that is what the general view of him is anyway.

Would Wenger go ? Maybe he would, maybe he feels the time would be right. On Pep, I think he would be the perfect replacement for Wenger. A journalist on Sky has also said the same. Chelsea wouldn't be a project for him.Too much interference. If Pep watched what has being going on at Arsenal then he would know that either he has free reign or he has no power at Arsenal. He wouldn't come to Arsenal without absolute power but if he had it then Arsenal are the only club for him , certainly in England.

and are allowed to take 1 player each with them. Wenger can take RVP and Pep can bring Messi with him. I might be able to live with that scenario

I think that should be Wenger's next move - a transfer to KPMG or PWCRed Member wrote:apparently Wenger is one of 5 candidates to replace Guardiola.

Never!
He will never leave Arsenal

Re: No excuses
I sympathize with his decision. I am sure he would have left with winning the Championship plus Champions League also. He needs a break.kite wrote:Maybe. But maybe it's not just because of some results and he just needs some time to relax. Let's not forget he was still a player when he became manager, no time between.Rohan wrote:Pep is overreacting.
