As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
He's gone. Please. Hear me now: THERE IS NO CHANCE RVP WILL SIGN A NEW CONTRACT
You've made claims before.
The thing a lot of people are missing is he is a family man. I know titles etc mean a lot to players, but he has a lot to think about in terms of uprooting his family. It is a big step and one I'm not sure he'll flippantly cast aside in order to fuck off to Man City. I think it was Danny Murphy that wrote recently that medals etc are all well and good, but if you're at a club you love, and your family are settled then that's all you can ask for as a footballer. This doesn't mean he's staying, but certainly Arsenal's failure to sign a Centre half might not mean he's going.
as Steveo pointed out I did make the case for selling RVP earlier this season and I suppose if City pay 80 million for him then it is a good deal - as long as we buy 2 world class players with the money.
RVP is also due an injury, now might be a good time to get rid.
Flash how was the 3rd place trophy parade at Islington town hall?
You're right, we totally blitzed Spuds in the league. That performance from Fulop too just wow...
I'll be reminding you of the RVP business come August 31. There's a simple way to settle this: care for a wager of £100? Put your money where your mouth is.

80 million for a player in the last year of his contract?
I will offer the wager again Flash and the terms are simple:
£100. I am betting you that by August 31 2012, RVP will not have signed a new contract at Arsenal. Meaning he will either be gone this summer, or on a freebie the next. So more likely this summer then.
Still waiting for you to take me up on the bet please...

Before going to the World Cup in 2010, an exasperated Cesc asked Wenger one final time which kind of players he planned on bringing in. Bear in mind this was our young captain and fulcrum of the team, play revolves around him..,
Wenger promised Cesc he'd be active: that summer, we ended up with I believe Chamakh, Shitachi and some other clown whose name I forget
That "clown" would be Koscielny

It's a shambles this club and the worst part is, a gormless bunch of sheep will shell out that ST money and ask no questions.
- 49 goals conceded
- worst defensive record in over 30 years
- 7 trophyless years
- AW on 7 mil a season
- £135 mil on wages
- heaviest defeat in over 120 years
- worst start in over 55 years
- Worst ever PL accumulation of points against promoted sides
- Almost a quarter of league games lost!
- The shambolic transfer window
- The lying over Jack's injury (diagnosis changed within a single day of the transfer window shutting)
- The scandalous lack of effort from players who's walk into the team the following match
- Selling key players to domestic rivals, who then win the league!

I am coming round to the idea that RVP is off and if he does then the club has a serious problem on its hands.
It is not so much about what we will lose in him as a player - I dont actually think he will have another season like he has just had - but what it says about the club. It will show us up once and for all as a club with no ambition and as a selling club.
and only selling RVP will make you believe this? What about Cesc and Nasri last season?
..... and Greedy, Hleb...Hmmm, could go on.... anyway, if he goes, he goes, Wenger couldn't give a shit as long as he's trousering 7.5 million a year in wages...

I think you'll find it was even worse Baba and that we actually lost more than a quarter of our league games.
I still think that Van Persie has the intention to stay. In my opinion it's all about what the Arsenal Board has to offer. I'm happy we've already signed Podolski, which is probably a sign that Wenger wants to do some serious business this summer. If the Board give him what he wants (in terms of salary and ambitions of the club), he will stay.
How many of you seriously think he could be joining City or any other English club? I think he only wants to leave us for Barcelona or Real Madrid. His family is happy in Londen, his children go to school there. I don't think he's leaving.
Why is everyone so obssessed with RVP's family. How many players have wives and kids? A big proportion of them i guess but they think nothing of going elsewhere when the offer comes in or they think they've achieved all they can. Lets face it RVP could well go back to Holland when he retires and his kids will still be of a school age so that isnt a concern for them at all. Money can buy you many things including the best schooling
I don't think it 's particularly about titles either. The real medals players are proud of are Player of the Year titles and Golden Boots. It proves you were the best. Any old fool can be part of a title squad. Players want memories and they want proof that they did the best they could. Robin will leave because he feels that we are wasting his talent.
