What made me laugh is that the commentator went well over the top about Song's pass and prattled on about how he's an under-rated passer - forgetting that he gave the ball away or found no-one in particular in the previous half dozen attempts at the show-biz pass!! :banghead: :banghead:    And as for supposedly taking more responsibility (as you would expect from a more senior player), for huge parts of the second half he was in a more advanced midfield role than either the Ox or Anelke! :banghead:

this. our first pre-season games of 03/04 were draws against barnet (0x0) and sc ritzing (2x2, cygan and ljungberg).

of course andre santos missed sitters, he's been eating fish and chips for the last 2 months

and why aren't Pod and Giroud not in the 24-man tour squad ?

the team aren't back in London until August 1st. that gives the two new strikers 17 days to get to know and play with the rest of the team ??? :?

even if they are not playing, should they be with the squad for training ?

the lack of preparation doesn't fill me with confidence that these two will hit the ground running as I had hoped. :banghead:

They are doing meet and greet's in Nigeria instead of getting to know their new team mates

Onto more pressing matters, I wonder if Wengers specs will be a permanent fixture this season.

No, because I think that the public relations side of the club will make certain he doesn't - for obvious reasons!

It's funny but I am never quite sure what we should be looking for from these friendlies - is it about fitness, is it about sharpness, tactics or team play ? :? To be honest with you I am never too sure but watching these games certainly doesn't fill me with any great optimism :( Yes it is only a friendly but for me a lack of finess can be some excuse but there can be no excuse for lack of ball control and positional awareness and we seen plenty of both today

Personally I do have to agree that it is a disgrace that our new signings are left at home at a time that they should, at the very least, be bonding with their team-mates :x They don't need to play the games if it is felt that they ain't ready but they can surely do their training with the rest of the squad ? Would sitting on the bench aid them in their quest to understand the formation and tactical plans of wenger (  ) ?

Lastly how much of an excuse is a lack of fitness ? I mean these guys are pro athletes who are weighed and given a training regime to follow during the summer so can their fitness really drop off that much ?

Couldn't believe some of the commentary yesterday..favourite moment was at start of second half. they were wondering what Wenger had said to his players at halftime...the muppets didn't cop on that he had changed 10 of them.
On the game , it was a run out and no more...points from it were that Gervinho is muck, Bartley is muck and Song is lazy..Ryo has a bit of energy and is positive, Theo is Theo . Ox has a great attitude, Yearrnis had a decent game and Eisfeld done more in 10 minutes than many done in their 45 minute stint.

I was thinking the same. It sounded like the commentator was trying his best not to be Stuart Robson and focused on blowing smoke up Song's arse. He kept commending Song on his keeping the ball and I was thinking - 'Is he watching this? Song giving the ball away every 5 seconds'.
