I'll say this now, I don't think M'Vila is the answer if Song goes. Better than Song as a DM yes but he's being played up as some sort of pariah who will never live up to the pedestal most fans are putting him on without even signing!!

I dont want to appear racist but fcuk it this needs to be said........is every c**t posting comments on the sky website a foreigner ? None of the names appear english but the comments and the way they are worded suggests people who dont have great english and only occasionaly see highlights and believe song to be excellent based on that

On a seperate issue, the taxi driver that brought us back to malaga airport today told me that the spanish papers are full of "song to barca" stories - he found it amusing that we believe him to be a useless c**t (although I didnt use those exact words  ). He also said that cazorla is a very very good player :barscarf:

Barca want him as back up for mascharano. When I first saw him play for us at blackburn in the carling cup he was a very good cb. Still think its his best position. £12m, bring in a "proper" DM or move TV5 there.

Song isn't going anywhere. He'ld be stupid to go anyway seeing as it'll be a sub.

Off course he does, he's not stupid.

He knows his place in the food chain, big fish at Arsenal, not even in the pond at Barcelona.

Song has weaknesses but also great strengths - sometimes they're the same thing,
he wants the ball short from defenders even when under pressure - often this creates dangerous transitions, one turn and a pass can take out most of the opposition, its also an opportunity to lose the ball in a bad place...
I think he can be a key player for us - that said I def wouldn't keep him as a backup
If we signed MVila or Sahin we have Le Coq and Frimpong as decent backups
no point keeping somebody as utility player who will then go on a free or demand high wages to sign a new contract

I voted only sell if we get a replacement
I think Song is massively under-rated here where he has become a bit of a scapegoat
once people get on a players back they often only remember the bad things he does
I've done it myself - rewatched a game after moaning at Theo/Song or whoever and the good outweighs the bad
very difficult to avoid confirmation bias (on the other hand rewatched games towards end of last season where RVPs movement and contribution was seriously lacking yet not a moan was heard)

I think Sahin is brilliant, MVila has looked decent when Ive seen him - likely to take either while to settle in to the Prem

heard this so many times - its just not true
his pass completion stats are decent and he got 11 assists in 34 games

I honestly think they need a +/- figure in Football like they do in Ice Hockey. Yeah well done Alex, you've created 4 goals from sublime creative play, unfortunately you've cost us 20 by being an idiot. -16, job done.
