Re: VILLA AWAY
this was always the game where he was going to rest players considering how bad villa have been this season
Re: VILLA AWAY
The team is still good enough to win and can understand Sagna and JW being rested.
3-0 to L'Arse

3-0 to L'Arse

Re: VILLA AWAY
Villa away is no place to be resting players, but obviously Wilshere and Sagna have been out injured for months, so perhaps they needed a rest?Vinny1967 wrote:AFC XI - Szczesny; Jenkinson Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs; Arteta Ramsey; Chamberlain Cazorla Podolski; Giroud

Gibbs for Vermaelen makes sense to me as well. Vermaelen isn't a fullback.
Other than that, it's probably the strongest team we have available.

Obviously feels Wilshere needs a break. Considering Wenger fucked him up by playing him for every minute of every game then I wont criticise that decision.Chippy wrote:Subs: Mannone, Sagna, Vermaelen, Wilshere, Coquelin, Arshavin, Gervinho
Bizarre. We're doomed.
Neither Sagna or Vermaelen are in decent form. Personally I would have kept Jenkinson in the team in the first place and Gibbs coming back in is a no-brainer.
Re: VILLA AWAY
If JW was only going to play 1 match I would prefer he played this coming Wed.g88ner wrote:Villa away is no place to be resting players, but obviously Wilshere and Sagna have been out injured for months, so perhaps they needed a rest?Vinny1967 wrote:AFC XI - Szczesny; Jenkinson Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs; Arteta Ramsey; Chamberlain Cazorla Podolski; Giroud
- if so, fair enough.

Hoping for a big performance from Rambo

Re: VILLA AWAY
Dropping Vermaelen is very odd and I cannot believe Wilshere is that knackered. Has he completed 90 minutes yet?
He has a chance to rest players against Olympiakos..............now is not the right time!
Arsene knows though.
No easy game this...............plastic water bottles are feeling uneasy in the midlands!

Re: VILLA AWAY
Expected Jack to be on the bench tbh – 4 games in 10 days would probably be risking it and in theory we're more likely to need him for the Everton game midweek than tonight. Might be a similar story with Sagna I guess.
Not unhappy to see Gibbs over Vermaelen seeing as he's the natural LB of the 2. Big(ish) call to play Kos over TV though. I'd almost rather have seen Verginho on the wing & Ox in the middle than Ramsey getting a game. Bit like choosing between Herpes & Chlamydia though.

Re: VILLA AWAY
Vermaelen I'd agree but Sagna's been pretty good imo. Either way, I'm comfortable enough with Jenks playing.LDB wrote:Obviously feels Wilshere needs a break. Everton away on Weds...you have to use the squad, personally id have played Arshavin but whatever the result i agree with Wengers team selection here. If we lose, it will be because we have played badly - our carling cup team should beat these, will we? We will find out, if anyone can lose to anyone - its def us!

Can't agree with comments re sagna's form - he was outstanding last week v the monkey man and not many full backs can go 1 v 1 with bale and come out on top

Re: VILLA AWAY
Wasn't my impression. I thought our strength was stopping bale getting the ball rather then any defending we did thereafter. All that sticks in my memory is Sagna being beaten rather tamely in the air by monkey boy. His form is definitely not as dodgy as Vermaelen but he hasn't massively impressed me since he came backaugie wrote:LDB wrote:Obviously feels Wilshere needs a break. Re: VILLA AWAY
Not a bad shout. He's had a couple of good games up there actually. Not saying that's a reason to pick him but he'd be a better option than Ramsey, with Ox in the middle. I forgot about Coquelin too. Him in there, with Arteta having a bit more license to get forward, would also piss all over Ramsey as an option.Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:Everton away on Weds...you have to use the squad, personally id have played Arshavin but whatever the result i agree with Wengers team selection here. Of course, if Ramsey has a good game I reserve the right to claim the above was all reverse psychology.
Re: VILLA AWAY
I suppose it shows how bare the squad is when we're playing every few days.
