Your favorite Bergkamp memory or goals ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The Newcastle goal is his best. Unique goal. Frank McLintock described it at the greatest goal he'd ever seen.

But my favourite is the one at home to Spurs in Wenger's first season. Pouring rain, sublime touch, precise finish, classic celebration.

Other great goals that dont always get a mention: his stinging low drive v Villa in the Lge cup semi 1st leg at Highbury which arrowed into the corner. The majestic chip in the game against Sheff Utd that had to be replayed. Away at Birmingham when he ran from the halfway line and dinked it over the keeper (then celebrated with our fans pointing to the captains armband he was wearing). The Wembley CL goal against Barcelona when his first touch was incredible.

And his performance at WHL in 98/99 when he ran the show. In the run in that season I think he was as good as he had been in 97/98.

I loved those frist 2 goals Bergkamp got against Southampton too. It was one of those days when everyone in the ground was so happy. We dont get days like that anymore. Will never forget the erruption in the crowd when the first went in. There were some flags in the Clock End that day too. What players these days are so loved by the crowd that everyone is willing them to do well just from sheer affection? (please dont say Theo, I cant stand the little turd.)

I remember a great chip in actual replay of that game
was a quality photo in the paper the next day of the keeper (did they have Newcastle's Pavel Srnicek?) flying out starfish Schmeicel style and the ball is already past him, dropping directly behind his head

My personal favourite is the double drag back goal and curler v Sunderland away, followed by the celebration to the camera with hand over mouth and Steven Hughes joinging him.

His best goal was Newcastle, a goal that I have yet to see anybody else replicate - of course he fucking meant it

He scored so, so, many real quality goals that you can argue a case for about half a dozen as his best.

The Bergkamp Legend dvd is a real joy to watch, can only hope that he returns to our once great club in the future as a coach at any level, as that would be awsome.

Leicester is my fav for Arsenal, a ridiculous goal.

Unfortnately I think the world Cup goal vs Argentina is the best of the bunch, for sheer technique, importance and playing on the world stage against a top class team just edges it for me.

He was a joy to watch in the red and white.

agree it was his best, agree he meant it
I think there's a Roberto Baggio goal for Juve v AC Milan where he does the same sort of term on Baresi about 30 yards from goal then runs through and scores - been searching online without success

it was a "mezzanotte" game on Channel 4,
I videoed it, came home from a nightclub and rewatched the turn about a million times
was awesome (but still not as good as the Bergkamp one)

no, the turn's almost exactly the same as Bergkamp's one, and it's a night game
Baresi is tight he touches it one side and spins round the other
looked several times over the last few years and never found it
I think I must be wrong about the finish, Baggio must miss the chance or I'd have found a clip by now

JD.

Do you mean the goal for Brescia?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do8ugYDVeK0.

Just seen a vid of his top 20 goals. How many Italian clubs did he actually play for?

A right footed DB10 imo.

If the goal is not amongst that top 20, then maybe you mean Dino???

no seen that vid several times, its good but massively favours the end of his career
looked for the turn for a few years and not found it
its def for Juve v Milan - what I remember is rewinding the video over and over again to look at the touch and spin
I think that maybe he doesnt even finish the chance at the end
otherwise I would have found it by now

bit pished, just back from a strange night. Met Fotball Italia James Richardson at the RCA graduate show.
Among a few other shenanigans. Logged on here using my brothers laptop.
This is the last page visited. Worth reading back a few pages. This is probably my favourite ever onlinegooner thread.
Pure quality. Jokes, info, nonsense opinion, comedy, links: IMO best thread ever.

It is great looking back at some of the great things he did but I must admit it also makes me feel a bit sad. I don't think I will ever see a player like him again in an Arsenal shirt.

I have more fond memories of him then any of my ex girlfriends!!!!
