I cannot agree that Gerrard may have been the best midfielder in the PL era. He is a very good player but his quality , in my opinion, never justified the media hysteria about him . He was nowhere near the standard of Keane or Vieira and possibly also behind Yaya Toure. His world class tag is the product of a media that wanted /needed an English player to be the dominant player in an English league. He has never and will never win a Premier League with Liverpool, I would think that Keane dragged a few average players into the winners enclosure. Vieira won his Premier League medals surrounded by quality. There have been very many (including today and Wednesday) careless passes from Gerrard that the media airbrush out by not commenting on. On the other hand Gerrard is a winner that pops up with big goals in big games. Think it is goals in five successive finals . Our man TH14 didn't score in any of his five finals for Arsenal but we wouldn't doubt his class. Gerrard is a good/great Premier League player but I wouldn't go beyond that.

I understand what you are saying, but nobody has said that gerrard is the best midfielder in the premier league era. I personally think that he is a really good midfielder, who scores some great goals.As I said before, my comments were more directed at the commentators who seem to blow their load every time gerrard scores from outside the box. Now that the victims are constantly outside the top4, he does stand out in what is really a poor team.
