Re: POLL: Do you want Arsenal to sign Wayne Rooney?
A tricky choice as he's so hated but putting all that out of the way I've voted "yes".
Perhaps we can offer Park, Chamack, Bentdner, Squillaci, Arshavin, Djorou, Eastmond, Frimpong, Santos and Diaby in part exchange plus money?

Getting rid of the above rubbish would comfortably pay his reported 220 grand a week cos i reckon we are paying those guys more

He's obviously better than we're got, but that isn't hard, but Man U are hardly going to sell unless he was on the wane, so no thanks!

I omitted Gervinho from that list I as reckon he could form a formidable partnership with Shrek.mcdowell42 wrote:hugh jardon wrote:A tricky choice as he's so hated but putting all that out of the way I've voted "yes".

The only thing formidable about Gervinho is his forehead.

Even if we dont have a hope in hell of signing him.Why isnt this poll 100% Yes?
How fucking deluded are our fans.We are fighting for 4th place every season we are not the European fucking champions.I suppose you wouldnt have Ronaldo as he played for Utd or Bale because he is a Spud

Are 38% of the Forum deluded on Rooney, Donaldo?
He is not an orthodox player, but I think comes closest to a number 10.
We have Cazorla, Rosicky, Arteta who can all play that role, and Wilshere if needs be (though I much prefer Wilshere deeper midfield).
With our budget, which is limited and not a Man City Fantasy Football budget, we have to prioritise.
For me, the order of priorities this summer, should be
Striker
Centre Back
Goalkeeper
Midfield Box To Box Ball Winner
Of course Rooney is better than many players in our team, but there are worries about him too.
He is getting worse, not better, when a player in his position and of his age should be approaching the peak form of his career.
He is unsettled at Man Utd. Maybe this is because Moyes is arriving, maybe not?
Ferguson has criticised his fitness (and I guess, his commitment?).
We got our fingers burnt with Arshavin, and I think something similar will happen if we sign Rooney.

He is a fighter and wants to win and he would give his all! The answer is a massive YES!

I've gone not sure........ at his best I think most of us if not all would have voted yes.
But when we played Manure the other week he looked very unfit and un-interested, If he's only got the shits with them..... fine. But if he has lost interest in football and cannot motivate himself then no ta.

It's difficult to view it realistically anyway when it's never going to happen, but you have to think is Wayne Rooney worth £25m and £200k/w to us (knowing what that would mean elsewhere)? And the answer for me is no.
Re: POLL: Do you want Arsenal to sign Wayne Rooney?
If money was no object then aye, he'd be a good signing for Arsenal, he's obviously not a bad player. That being said he's not really kicked on and become the world beater people thought that he might be so, since money is an object, Manchester United would want a fortune for him and he'd want a shit load in wages, I don't think he'd be the best player for you to target especially since you really need a shit hot number 9 type, not a player who is more adept at playing in behind.

Whereas my opinion is Yes.northbank123 wrote:It's difficult to view it realistically anyway when it's never going to happen, but you have to think is Wayne Rooney worth £25m and £200k/w to us (knowing what that would mean elsewhere)? And the answer for me is no.

Quartz, In answer to your comment that he is a number 10, didn't Rooney have his best ever season and score close to 30 goals last season playing for Man Utd up top as the sole striker?

You think he looks fit enough and sharp enough to play that role anymore?
I don't.
He is on the slide if this last season was anything to go by, and his own manager went out and bought RvP to play up top.
When interviewed together they both described themselves as nine and a halves.
