Goodbye Sagna

Interesting he says "a club that always gave me HIS trust"... Arsene is Arsenal after all!

I'm a bit indifferent to his leaving, really. Would rather of hung onto him in the hope Jenko could learn the defensive side of the game from him. His form, particularly going forward, had dipped in the last 2 seasons, but he gave his all here mostly, so no hard feelings. :|

Sagna to City confirmed

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archiv ... ester-city

Bacary Sagna has agreed to join Manchester City after his contract expires with Arsenal on June 30.

Sagna, 31, signed for Arsenal from Auxerre in the summer of 2007 and went on to make a total of 284 appearances for the club.

An integral part of Arsenal’s defence over the past seven seasons, the France international brought his time with the Gunners to a fitting close last month when he helped the team win the FA Cup in his final match.

Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to thank Bacary for his fantastic contribution, and wish him all the best for the future.

I must admit I'm not getting the Sagna love in, he ran his contract down and left for more money to sit on the bench, does he not qualify as a mercinary then?

He was a great servant because he was paid well to be, being proffesional should be a minimal requirement along with being able to kick a ball.

Firstly I don't really expect any club loyalty from non London born players (and even then for most of them it is a job). Sagna is going to another club who will pay him more money and also offer him a better chance of winning medals, I can't really blame him for that. Yes he will get less game time but at his age probably no bad thing.

We can only speculate but it appears the initial problems with his contract renewal were us trying to stick by our 1 year for over 30's policy, then by the time we backed down he had begun considering alternatives.

Some fans (not accusing you Gunnersaurus) seem to want to demonise anyone who has the audacity to leave AFC. Personally I always thought Sagna did an excellent job and we'll do very well to get someone as good as him.

Good luck ,god bless, get some pension money, don't score against us and don't do any goal line clearances that stop us scoring.

He served his time, he's 31 and he's gone to take care of his pension can't begrudge him. Au Revoir seems more appropriate than f**k off you :censored: , but I can guess which one is going to be doing the rounds on social media.

Yeah, maybe. :rubchin:

But for me it's not that black and white. It's shades of mercenary cuntism. RVJC is a mercenary judas crunt because he sat on our treatment table contributing fuck all for 7 seasons and he owed us for standing by him when NO ONE would have signed him. We also made him very rich for fuck all return. Then the dirty cuntlunged whore gets that one season of full fitness and top form and promptly fucks us and cashes it in to go to Manure. And worse, dresses it up as some kind of lying "I'm doing this because the club don't match my ambitions and my leaving might wake the club up and be good for the club in the long run" bullshit. And some of the retards on here bought that bullshit.   That's a mercenary. :x

Then you have Cashley Cunthole. Self professed lifelong Gooner. Surely being made obscenely wealthy playing for the club you love would be enough for any true Gooner? Surely? But no. Cuntley Fuckwank had to have an extra £5k a week to keep his pimp - sorry agent - happy. And then pimped his own mobile-phone-infested ass to the chav of all cuntholes! That's a mercenary. :x

Sagna gave his all mostly, never pretended to be a Gooner, didn't pimp himself to other clubs, didn't hide in the treatment room, honoured his contract and seems to have gone about moving in an honest open fashion. Not every player is a Gooner. They leave. It happens. I don't feel he owes us anything the way RVJC did and I don't think he betrayed us the way Cashley PhoneSmuggler did. :|

His story always makes me feel a bit sad. Here was a player with quite considerable ability that had the world at his feet but he was too fucking stupid to see it. He was only 30% of the way through his education from who was, at the time, one of the best footballing coaches in the world. He became impatient and it resulted in him fucking up his entire career.

Having said that it doesn't make me feel sad for him. He got what he fucking deserved for thinking he was better than he was at the time.

Total bullshit. He ran his contract down because the board under the instructions of Wenger offered him a one year deal.A one year deal to one of our most consistent players.

I bet you didnt like Sol Campbell because in your words he was a mercenary and you call Flamini a mercenary.Loyalty cuts both ways

Mark my words if Rambo has another great season and we finish 4th or worse he will be off.And you will call him a mercenary

I agree. The one year contract for the over 30's thing that Wenger propogates (and yet broke for the Mid Op Transexual  :x ) is a joke.

But I also think we have to accept that the modern footballer has loyalty only to himself. The days of the "clubman" are long gone. Players simply don't have the love of club that we the fans do. :|
