Revisionist bollocks I'm afraid.
Barca were a basket case when he took the reins. Yes, they were chock full of great players but he implemented the tippy-tappy system and shipped out most of the 'bad eggs' whom he replaced with players he worked with at youth level.
I hope he fails miserably at City, but to say "this whole Pep a great manager is a myth" isn't true.
Well said Offside. What kind of mug claims Pep is shite? When Pep took over Barca they had come off the back of a 7-0 aggregate CL mauling at the hands of Bayern FFS. The players were all over the place, no discipline etc. He took over, won a league and CL double and followed that up with a Treble. Number of managers to have ever done that? NONE.
I agree he takes over the best dominant teams with big resources but that's his choice. With him at Citeh now THIS season was Arsenal's only chance to win a league title. It's gone. Once you give Pep a squad packed with great players and a huge transfer facility, he ALWAYS wins, at a canter. You can forget the PL a title for at least the next 2-3 years. Once Pep arrives there ain't gonna be any of this season's ridiculous inconsistent rubbing by Citeh etc. The other teams will have to massively step up.
So that means no PL title until Pep leaves in 2019. So assuming Le Trou du Cul is still in charge of AFC then, that'll be FIFTEEN YEARS without a league title when Pep swans off.
Simply not true. He has a team of stars at Bayern and no CL trophy to show for it and I can't see that changing this season.
And no one said he was shite, it was said that it's a myth to how good a manager he is
Ok o stand corrected. It isn't true he won a Treble (never been done before at Barca). It also isn't true that Messi, Xavi and Iniesta all lost a CL semi 7-0 to Bayern on aggregate (they did, proving its nonsense anyone could walk the CL with them). It also isn't true that he took over a Barca side that had been destroyed towards the end of Rijkaard's reign by Capello's Madrid. It also isn't true that he shipped out Ronaldinho, Deco (top players) and changed their style. And of course, it isn't true he won a league and CL double, then later a Treble. All those big clubs fighting for him must be mugs. Real top managers win FA Cups don't you know
shitty get Pep and we're stuck with Clueless who no doubt will be offered another 2 - 3 year deal when this one expires - with a mighty Wedge Increase to £10mill - The world is INSANE!.

I agree to an extent here with you iw8 pep definitely struggles when plan a does not work, however with some of the egos he has managed down the years city are getting an incredible individual as a manger

you said Pep wins all before him when he has quality players and I stated the fact that he doesn't. All your facts are Barcelona there.
And I want wenger gone as much as the next man but why does every thread have to turn into one about him.

So Pellegrini has City in the final of the league cup, safely into the 5th round of the FA cup, favourites to win the league and a nice draw against Kiev to reach the QF's of the champions league.
Yet someone at City has looked at the biger picture and gone and replaced him with the best there is out there.
Meanwhile in bizarro world inspector clueless is about to go 12 seasons of failure in the league and get a rimming from Barca in the be all and end all but will be rewarded with a new deal
Fair play IW8 will leave it at that...thought you'd see the Wenger link though as he's the manager and many wanted him replaced with Pep? Anyhow. You're entitled to your opinion on Pep.

What's most sickening is that it's being reported that Pellegrini gave up the extra year of contract extension he was due to step aside for Pep. Bear in mind this is a manager in a domestic cup final, odds-on to win the league title, a cushty CL draw and still in the FA Cup. And yet Citeh replaced him. And he happily stood aside when he saw a top young manager was available.
Apologies for the terseness of my reply to you, I was heading out in a rush and meant to write in more detail but time was against me. I'm not saying Pep doesn't have his faults, far from it - I just think he gets unfairly labelled as a 'chequebook manager' when there is far more to him than that.
You’ve all covered this in enough detail now so I’ll bow out.

I'm sure "man of honour" would have done the same
Heynckes did the same at Bayern as well I think, after huge success. I don't think many people could see Wenger doing the same, most probably wouldn't want him to!
There is no disputing Guardiola's credentials and talents, but he had a hard act to follow at Bayern and he may well have that at City if they win manage to win the CL. Also there will be a level of general competitiveness in the Premier League that I don't think he would have encountered in Spain or Germany and it will be interesting to see how he does if the going gets tough, if nothing else.

And it's supposed to be a GOOD thing that we have 'continuity' by keeping The Old Fraud in charge, yet it's the fucking worst thing

I don't think Heynckes' retirement was entirely voluntary...
It will be interesting to see how Guardiola does in the PL. It's certainly a tougher job than Barca or Bayern. I just much rather that he was coming to The Arsenal than going to a 'title rival' (allegedly)
Most of the good candidates to succeed TOF are gone; Klopp, Ancellotti and now Guardiola. Simeone is being lined up for the Chelsea job as well, supposedly
The trouble is, Pep will be able to attract top players to City and make them formidable. The fringe players at City will be worried, you know, Clichy and his ilk.
